Anyway, considering the current situation in the market for available strikers, I'm happy to get Balotelli for £16m.

The fact we're signing him late in the window probably tells that he wasn't top of the list for transfer targets this summer, but if he just applies himself, he can be a very fine player for any team. I'm hopeful. Welcome, Mario.

I am not sure that he wasn't one of our first targets. Didn't someone in Milan management come out after the World Cup and say that they had a deal in place to sell Balotelli before the WC and that it fell apart or something? I thought I read that somewhere.

Regardless of whether he was first or last choice he was obviously on our radar, and even when Rodgers said that Balo wouldn't play in Liverpool he also complimented how talented he was as a player.

Even if Balotelli doesn't reach his potential or focus with us he's still a player that tends to score 1 in every 2 games and posses a big threat to the other team on the pitch. He's better than Lambert and that's all that really matters for this season, and at 16m it's not much of a gamble.

So, we are getting a player 10x more crazy than Suarez and 10x less talented/efficient than Suarez.

Kinda mixed feelings tbh like wiith when Suarez signed frankly.

I definitely didnt want sign him earlier in the window when we were linked but have come around to the fact that he is best option we have atm.

Cant i am more excited by his signing than aynone this window though i have much apprehensions about him

Also with Mino Raiola being his agent we cant certain of his signature until poses for a lean.

Rodgers describes that idea as "absolutely spot on", but Balotelli promptly insisted that he was in no rush to tie the knot.

For the moment, it seems, the enigmatic young forward is happy with his lot — even if he rarely looks too bothered when he scores a goal.

"I hope he is not thinking that he will settle down when he is 28 or 29," Rodgers says.

"The idea for him should be to focus on his football, because there is no doubt that he is a massive talent.

"I remember speaking to Fabio Borini about him.

"He has played with him for the Italian under-21s, and said he was the best player he'd ever worked with.

"He just said he was incredible."

Pirlo said: 'Mario has matured since he has been back in Italy. He will be the first to admit when he was younger he made some mistakes - but he is not that player anymore.
