Official : Arsenal Sign Gervinho
Arsenal Football Club announces that Ivory Coast international forward Gervinho will shortly join the Gunners, subject to a regulatory process.
Gervinho, 24, will arrive at Arsenal from French side Lille, who he helped to a Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double last season with 15 goals in 40 games.
The campaign capped a very successful two years for Gervinho, during which time he netted 28 times in his 67 appearances for Les Gogues. Before joining Lille, Gervinho enjoyed two seasons with Le Mans, also in Ligue 1.
On the international stage, Gervinho captained the Ivory Coast in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and also represented his country at the 2010 World Cup, scoring twice in just three substitute appearances during qualification to the finals. To date, Gervinho has made 27 appearances in total for Les Eléphants, scoring six goals.
The forward came through the same Ivorian youth academy - ASEC Mimosas - as Emmanuel Eboue, before following in the right-back’s footsteps to join Belgian side KSK Beveren.
Arsenal.com will bring you the first exclusive interview with Gervinho once the deal is completed.

Re: Official : Arsenal Sign Gervinho
Gervinho will be a great signing for us imo.
I have seen him play over the last year for Lille and Ivory Coast and I have been very impressed. Only 24 years old too which means he has time to develop even further.

'I have heard great things about Gervinho'
Robin van Persie believes Gervinho will be an excellent addition to the Arsenal squad.
The Ivory Coast star has agreed a move to Emirates Stadium and will join the Club soon, subject to a regulatory process. Gervinho inspired Lille to the Ligue 1 title in France last season and will give Arsène Wenger another attacking option when the Premier League campaign gets underway next month.
Van Persie has already seen Gervinho in action and welcomes the competition that his potential new team-mate will bring.
"I know him from the highlights of the French league," said the Dutchman. "I’ve seen him play a couple of times for the Ivory Coast and I’ve been speaking to [Emmanuel] Eboue and he was very positive about him.
"The things I’ve seen look great but we will have to wait and see how he adapts. Every new player that comes in needs time so he will need a couple of months to feel at home and hopefully he can play his best football.
"I think it is a good thing that you have competition. Everyone needs competition because no one really wants to go to sleep. I think in the ideal world, no one is really sure of his place. Maybe the captain and the goalkeeper but all the others shouldn’t be known before that they will play. It’s good to have competition and be on your toes.
"The way I feel now is that new signings are more than welcome, why not? Every other team is buying quality players so hopefully we will do the same. I think so [you need to invest to keep up]. If you look at Manchester City buying loads of good players and Liverpool is doing it now and Manchester United has been doing it for years. If everyone is doing something you need to do it as well."
