Re: Morata is finished
Nah, we have Diego Costa in his place. At this moment Aspas and Rodrigo are also ahead of Morata.
Look the kid was not satisfied playing behind Benzema, wanted to prove he could be a starter. He had his chance and blew it! Maybe now, he can settle into the idea that he can be a backup, which is where he has had success both at club and seleccion.
By the way, I understand Mariano was also a consideration! I suspect he may also be ahead of Morata at this point.

Re: Morata is finished
Shame. Needs to get out of Chelsea for his career. Where do you think his actual level is Nick? good enough to play for the Valencia's and (poor timing I know) Sevilla's of the world? or do you suspect he will fade away and join some mid table PL club on high wages. If Morata is mentally weak as a lot of people say, being benched by G-Rude after 6 months will take a huge toll on him. Don't see him ever playing for a big club again. Maybe Monaco.

He is physically weak too. Falls to easily, that's his biggest weakness. I mean this guy has accumulated yellows and reds than Casemiro and Casemiro is a defender

His scoring record isn't too bad for a first season in the Prem. He isn't winning games on his own like Costa did at his best, but he hasn't been a disaster either. It's actually kind of bullshit from Conte to drop him recently.

I think he would be an asset to any team as a substitute, but he seems to firmly believe he’s starter material for a big club, something he has yet to prove despite being well into his 20s.

Re: Morata is finished
How has his fitness been? Lopetequi indicated today that he has missed a number of games, implying that he is still getting over his injury?
There have been questions about his skill level, strength and mental toughness from both Juve and Madrid fans as well as this year Chelsea fans. Bottom line from my perspective is he is best suited as a backup player as he has made very good appearances as an impact sub.
The question he has to ask himself is what does he want? If he wants to go to a club like Valencia, Sevilla etc, he can go and be a starter with a second tier club, but will likely have a lower salary or he can accept that he is an impact sub and stay with a first tier club be it Chelsea or elsewhere. However with the price Chelsea paid and his current salary, there won't be many lining up to take him and no doubt he is headed towards a lower salary.
His best option IMO is to stay at Chelsea and try to earn his keep taking advantage of whatever his minutes are. That actually is what Lopetequi said re his chances of going to Moscow, dig in, and use your minutes wisely to demonstrate you earn more minutes and show your worth re WC selection.

Art, Morata will never have the mental toughness as Costa. AS far as Conte, he is the reason why Chelsea paid 90M. Conte had full confidence in him. If Conte has gone sour on him, then that's totally on Morata.

Would take him back if he was willing to play as a deep-lying benchmaker, provided we have better starter alternatives.

Re: Morata is finished
He had a long interview in Spanish, Fiebre Maldini I think, bill probably knows. I watched since they played it at half time of the CL games first leg in BeIN.
He basically talked about his whole trajectory from youth player to now at Chelsea. 2 things that stood out from his interview for me: he is a nice guy and more down to earth than probably most famous footballers; and that he has 0 fight in him, no competitive mentality at all.
He spoke from the beginning like he was just cruising through football, he even said he wasn't willing to put the effort in at Atletico (iirc) because he had no financial need to. He just wanted to have fun. Then the same at Madrid, he said that he was just training with Castilla because he was having fun, not to be a first team player. Mou fired him up. Then he left because he just felt like he wanted to play bigger games so he accepted the offer form Juve which he believed he didn't merit. Then the second leaving of Madrid, even though he says they are his #1 club forever, because he again wasn't playing the biggest games. He doesn't seem like he ever wanted to put in the time and effort to compete with the best. Now at Chelsea under Conte seems like the worst possible solution.
Probably gonna end up at Sevilla or a similar level.

Don't expose us unique
To be fair though, most of Morata's time was a supersub/left wing basically
I think we've just been quite lucky to be successful, it makes it easier for players to also succeed at Juve. Additionally, our coaches just have an immense tactical understanding of the game, maybe enough to mask some individual deficiencies among a team of 11

it also helps that juve have been by far the best team in italy for the last few years.Luca wrote:Unique wrote:people always talking about the form of jogba and morata did anyone ever stop to think maybe juve can make scrubs look good for 1-2 seasons. food for thought

No no you got that all wrong. Benzema is the reincarnation of Anelka. Both were very talented, but never got close to delivering on that potential.
With Morata, he is not at the same talent level as those two. His major problem is very weak mentally (see Rincon’s post above).
I don’t think he got over hyped, noone forced Conte / Chelsea to spend 90m on him. Or maybe it is Nick’s fault for boosting the price tag!!

Finally feeling justified to calling him the spanish Welbeck. Even his biggest fan, Conte, has given up on him.

More like Morata gave up on them. He is welcome back anytime he decides he's had enough with the cattenacio. Grande Alvaro, his home and his level is Real Madrid not Chelsea who are happy playing everyone behind the half way line

Re: Morata is finished
so after 6 months he gave up on the chance of being the number 1 CF in a top club? that's your theory? lol, it's not a good one.
He has been after this opportunity for 3 years, he got it and he flopped. It doesnt mean he cant succeed tomorrow but up to now, it's been poor. And like or dislike Conte, he had wanted Morata there as his guy, and if anything Morata let him down.
I really like what Luca siaid, it's almost as if he is not working hard enough for his chance. now instead of getting interest from bigger clubs than chelsea, now he will have to club to a smaller club to prove himself.
you want him back to madrid? why not as a bench player, but let's not be revisionist historian here because there were mutliple instances of Morata starting games in Madrid and being disappointing.

Re: Morata is finished
Please, you can tell from the effort he gives every game. Even when he was given 3 mins at Madrid he was still running his ass off. He can't even be asked to do that when he starts at Chelsea. Conte lost him when he faked his injury. His level is Madrid not Chelsea

If Morata is madrid level that explains why you guys are 15 points off top.
He's a terrible striker.
