Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VI
got dis from twitter...thats mad as f***Cristiano, Bale + Rodríguez cost Real Madrid around €265M: more than what Ajax have spent on transfers (€232M) since their founding in 1900.

well, Gerrard is 34, I'd say it's high time you start to phase him out.
Not 'bench' him, but get a successor in, to start taking his place.
If you think Emre Can is that, you're placing WAY too much expectation, and pressure, on the kid.

that's not mad as *bleep*, that's nonsensical as *bleep*, as surely if you start counting in 1900 you'd have to factor in one hell of inflation on transfer fees.

Not really suprising...
Firstly, pre-war period, the highest transfer sum ever spent on a player was like 20K...
Secondly, all those guys have signed in the past 5 years (where Ajax have probably not spent more than 10m on any single player) and in the years where Ajax were actually a relevant team ('95 and 70s) the money in football was way less...
And thirdly, Ajax notoriously spend little-to-no money on players and have forever preferred to bring players up from their academy.
Also, how many clubs can the same be said of?
Barca? Ibra+Neymar+Suarez?
City? Perhaps not for 3 players... but they have spent enormously
Manaco? PSG?

I wonder how much money Madrid has made since signing them though

Liverpool Transfer Target Marco Reus 'to Sign for Bayern Munich in 2015'
Liverpool are set to miss out on coveted Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus after German media reported the midfielder will join Bayern Munich.
Reus has been linked with a host of Premier League's leading clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
But the 25-year-old German, who missed the World Cup in Brazil after picking up an ankle injury in a pre-tournament warm-up match against Armenia, will spurn advances from England and join Bayern Munich instead, according to German publication TZ.
The proposed £28 million move will see Reus link up with former team-mates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, who both took the same path from Dortmund to Bayern.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VI
I read the TZ and they did NOT write that Reus will join us in 2015.
Instead they wrote an article pondering whether we should try to go for him in 2015, or not.
What's more, the basis for that article was that they refered to a 'report' from Sport in Catalunya (YES, the Sport that has Hummels to Utd done for 20m € this week) that claimed Pep "wants Reus but the Bayern bosses vetoed it".
Which is of course just baseless nonsense.
They do this all the time, always stories in Catalan rags how Pep is treated badly by our bosses, or how he wants to get rid of Schweini and Müller for peanuts. I wonder if there maybe could be any kind of agenda, hurt feelings or such, at play in all this. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Hm. Maybe Sammer will go for the Reus signing to take revenge on Dortmund for being among the clubs who didn't want to push the Bundesliga start one week later to make things a bit more difficult for Bayern XD

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VI
Bayern,such a stupid club.
I really don't understand their desire to pull the money over the eyes of all the rival team best players who have developed them into what their are.
I also don't understand where the principles of players who make such moves are.
Nothing made me happier than seeing BVB beat their ass into the ground a while back.
Dortmund is a fantastic team and setup in general.

Vibe, i can understand your opinion as a a part of jealousy and what not but, for me the challenge for the other clubs is to rise financially and in terms of status to beat that what Bayern do. So howmuch ever I hate them, it doesnt take away a fact that they are such a brilliantly run model for a football club.

With any luck we shall witness a transfer window akin to PSG's early beginnings where they funded half of Serie A for the following season.
Whilst they're buying up Colombia's World Cup stars I would like to personally offer them Zapata.

Haha Fußball, is it the same at Barca as it is at Bayern, where Hoeness and Rummenigge can only feel good about a transfer when they can claim the player "was willing to give up money" to join us?
I always have to laugh as that is such pathetic bullshit.

Nah, we're just trying to be cheap in general, despite having the occasional Ibra-Nerman-Suarez blackout. It's like a transfer markt yo-yo effect. We're generally on a diet ... I mean budget ... but sometimes we can't resist and afterwards feel bad about it and try to make up for it by being extra cheap. Particularly when it comes to defenders.
Off the top of my head we forced Mascherano, Alexis, Fabregas and Suarez to take wage cuts in recent times.
