Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Also MD article mentions that we had agreed a loan deal in January window but Simone cancelled as he needed cover for Juanfran.
So it seems a long term target for BR

This sounds like that Saul Niguez kid rumors in January
I really couldn't care less about them rumors. We're not selling Johnson and he'll probably start at RB. The only silver lining is that this is his last year with us.
We'll buy someone worthy to start next summer. Probably Chambers from Soton or hopefully MDS.

We are giving Remy a 5 year contract at the age of 27.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
very risky imo but may be that is the way he agreed for wages+years!!! Anyways we are getting him in his prime, so I am sure we will get best out of him for min 2 years and probably 1 more and if he seems like done after 2 years we wll sell him
- Spoiler:
- or keep on loaning him for next 3 years by paying his half wages

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
According to what reliable source? And don't say Di Marzio as he's only slightly more accurate than The Daily Mail these days.
EDIT: I see that L'Equipe is *supposedly* reporting the 5-year deal now as well. Still not bothered as A) L'Equipe are no more reliable or informed on LFC business happening in the US than any other source and B) he'll likely leave in 3 seasons or so regardless of contract length... this simply ensures that we can sell him rather than have him leave on a free.

I think 4 years should be apt.

How will he worth after three years, having bought him for 8 million!!! But for each year beyond that, he will be costing us 4 million.B) he'll likely leave in 3 seasons or so regardless of contract length... this simply ensures that we can sell him rather than have him leave on a free.

If we didn't offer Remy a five-year contract, he might not have signed with us, but with someone who offered him that. So let's just chill, he's a fine addition to the team in this marketplace, for that price.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Why are people so certain we'll get rid of him after 3 years?
We'll probably loan him out to a team that's taking a cut off his wages because we can't sell him due to his age / wage demands just like we had to do with Cole and Reina. That is of course he's on a 5 year deal, which I won't be surprised if he is. He was demanding 80k and 5 years from Arsenal.

We can always sell Remy to some crazy Russia/Arab team if we want rid. Hell Sunderland managed to get rid of Gyan when it didn't work. There is an underrated buyers market for these player who will pay them top money

The guy hasn't played a game for us and we're already talking about how to get rid of him
Let's leave it to future us to worry about that.

I am sure we have learn from the past and Ayre is the one who will take care of it and here-there you will find some deals where there is no straighforward management possible. So I am also not bothered. I am looking forward to see Remy in red

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
According to Marca. Good deal IMO if he ends up being a good RB that's a pretty cheap option that will likely be taken with Johnson on his way out.Manquillo deal is a loan with a £4.75m option to buy.

Yeah I guess it's alright. I mean he's just on loan. If he's shit we just don't make it permanent.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
I think the full-back positions were much more in need of strengthening than the CB ones and if this Manquillo guy ends up being our full-back reinforcement... Well, I've never seen him play, but I don't think Arsenal, Mancs or Chelsea would count on a signing like this to rely upon.
We'll see.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Well look at it this way. If we don't sign him on loan, we're not signing anyone for RB this summer. And Johnson will start majority of our games. I ABSOLUTELY dread that. So meh, if this guy isn't good then he won't play and after his loan is over he goes back. Win-win situation.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
I am a bit confused about how we've gone about this transfer window in regards to our fullbacks. Maybe they have complete confidence in Enrique returning to health, and Flanno as a back-up, but I'm not convinced.
Also I can't remember reading through the topics, but am I the only one who thinks that Moreno is not a great buy especially at his price? I don't think he's the type of player we need at LB, he's very small and not great defensively. He didn't have a great season in Spain either. I would much rather go for a number of different fullbacks, there are so many out there with just as much potential, if not more, that are more proven and better fits IMO (one in particular that I have no idea why nobody seems to be interested in him). I mean PSG is getting Aurier on LOAN with a buy option -- surely we could have bought him with all our attacking depth and money sitting in a pile.

If City are selling Nastasic, we better not letting it slip ffs Specially if the quoted (15m) price is true.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
Rodgers:
“You only spend the money if the players are there. The money is there if the right players are available.
What we can’t do is spend for the sake of it. The players we’ve brought in were players we wanted anyway.
It was well documented our squad last year was too thin so we needed to bring in players to get that level and depth up.
Our signings are strategic. They are not just names. They all fit into the purpose of the team but, of course, we want them to make a contribution.
If that means we do not spend all the money or the net spend is the same, then so be it.
The character is important. It is not just about the player, but the right type of person.”
------------------------------------------------------
Well I guess we can waive good bye to the marquee signing unless one falls right into our arms which is highly unlikely.
What Brendan is saying make sense, however the most important factor here is that they get their PRIMARY targets. We can't do the same thing we did last season and go for our 3rd/4th choice targets like Cissokho, Moses, Aspas because we couldn't bag our first options.
Well Moreno is the perfect example this season. If Rodgers believes he's so perfect for our system and is the primary target why not just learn from our mistakes from last season, specially now that we have money, and just pay that extra 2-3 mill or whatever it is.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
I just don't see it with Moreno, but I trust Rodgers.
Anyway, this is nice to hear, and basically what I've said before anyway (that really what we were lacking was depth to begin with). With that said I would still prefer to drop a load of cash on Ricardo Rodriguez, but of the players available out there he's the only one I would open up the wallet for that we could realistically (in theory) get.
Otherwise better to wait until winter to see what's going on, or even next summer. The money isn't going to disappear.

Re: Summer of 2014: Part 2
I am nt really worried, about attacking options although it would be brilliant if we can that spark. But we can really wait until jan instead of signing some name as of now. In Jan who knows someone might pop up, by which probably other clubs wont be interested in such a player. So it is better to wait.
I am more worried about how BR will manage the existing defenders and thw signing we may make aka Lovren.
