No idea, weird. PS4 Came with a HDMI cable as well but I think my own one is better so I am using that with ps4 and new one on ps3

On a similar note, when you use your headset, what connection is that?

Definitely HDMI cable problem.

Tried my turtle beach via some splitter cable shit and the sound is perfect on the headset. Mic works fine too.

I found it somewhere behind the TV from the other room. Although it might be like 5 years old

I'll see how good the PS4 HDMI cable is when it arrives. If it's poor then I'll get a better one but that should be fine since Sony aren't really cheap.

Why would you want to waste money on a 240Hz screen? Do you even understand why LCD TV's are undergoing a LCD refresh rate marketing craze and that nearly all brands lie about their TV's actual refresh rate?

LCD's have major image quality issues when it comes to displaying content that's lower fps than the screens refresh rate - see UFO 2 & 3:

And even matching the screens refresh rate poses visual quality issues just because the way our eyes and standard LCD tech interact (eli5 format - our eyes can see the LCD changing from one colour to the next), for a good example see:

In the early days of LCD's response time was the marketing craze as that was literally the time it took an LCD to change colours. First you got the actual response time of black to white to black but manufacturers figured out that real life video doesn't reflect that so response times advertised where actually grey to white/black to grey. Same with how contrast rations are marketed - LCD's marketed with insane contrast ratio numbers are actually measurements of black when the screen is at its lowest brightness and white with the brightness set to highest - which never occurs in real life.

In the early days of the refresh rate marketing craze TV manufacturers would simply interpolate the frames between each of the inputs frames and you get an image similar to UFO 1. Since they would double the inputed frame rate and the perceived smoothness they could "believably" market a 60Hz as Marketingmotion 120Hz but you still have the problem of being able to see the pixel change colour and how your brain processes that information (As shown by the eyetracking test and the following video:)



Recently manufacturers are employing scanning backlights and what it simply means is that the backlight of each LCD progressively turns off so your eyes don't witness most the colour change but it's still not perfect but good enough for TV/Movies.



TV Manufacturers then thought hey! Let's count the state in which the backlight is turned off and we can effectively double the Hz we can market!

tl;dr TV makers are just as bad as Apple when it comes to advertising their TV's.

Due to the way HDMI works there is absolutely no difference between a "good" HDMI cable or a "bad" HDMI cable. HDMI either works 100%, or it doesn't. In some extremely rare cases it might work partially but the type of artifacting that occurs (sparkles - blank white pixels) makes it pretty obvious the cable is failing.

Now that that's out of the way since the PS4 comes bundled with an HDMI 1.4b cable so it's simply impossible for there to be a better cable than the one it's bundled with. Granted, you could always use an HDMI 2.0 cable but since the PS4 only supports 1.4b that's a waste of money. Don't worry; HDMI 2.0 only adds support for stuff the PS4 can't even dream of (4K and 3D content at more than 24fps)

tl;dr: There is no better or worse HDMI cable.

Far Cry was released in 2004 and Crysis in 2007. The fact that you guys bring up the Ubisoft Montreal Far Cry's released later means you guys have no idea what I'm talking about when I say Crysis was the Far Cry of its time because Far Cry 3 doesn't even match up to what Far Cry did for FPS's.

You guys also talk about consoles vs. PC as if I didn't play Project M (A mod for Brawl that makes it more Melee-like), modded PES, Timeplitters 3 and w/e else we feel like on a weekly basis. The exclusives argument goes both ways.

If you think I'm arguing to get a $150 GPU over a Nexgen console because of graphics you completely miss the point.

Yeh, there's no difference between a £10000 HDMI cable and a 99p one, they all give the same quality. The only problem could be the wiring inside the cable is broken.

We're all too jaded as f*** with the gaming industry to take part in the console war. We've seen and heard it all, there's no fun in it anymore. Even the actual games, and gaming conventions like E3 are beginning the bore the hell out of me. It's just the same shit, the same shit every year. Maybe, I'm out of touch, who knows.

As with anything, the problem is when you get to a certain level it's hard to improve things. I mean The leap from ps1 to ps3 is just ridiculous. But when you get to a certain point it's hard to impress people even more. Realistically, what could significantly improve the sort of games we'll see in the next few years?

Short of some virtual reality thing there's not much further they can go


I still enjoy gaming, but I don't get hyped up much because so many types of games that are great have just been rehashed to death I.E WW2
