This is completely normal. Montoya, Bartra, Muniesa, Sergi Roberto, Rafinha, Tello, Cuenca, Deulofeu, Luis Alberto, Araujo, Espinosa, Masip ... None of them play for Barca B anymore either. Barca B average age: 19.8. It's the youngest team in the Segunda by far. The next youngest team is Sporting Gijon with 25.2. Almost the entire squad got recently promoted from the lower ranks.

I've also watched Castilla last season. They were crap beyond belief. They had a chance to stay up in the Segunda in their last game of the season if they had won. Apart from set pieces they didn't create anything at all in a do-or-die game. Complete cluelessness in all areas. This is what I wrote in the Barca section after watching Castilla's "relegation fight":

Have to admit I appreciate our talents even more now after watching Real Madrid Castilla yesterday. They were spectacularly awful. Didn't muster any meaningful attack together in a do-or-die game apart from set pieces (which Murcia were defending awfully).

You usually recruit when you're losing a ton of players... yet Madrid have literally recruited no promising youth to replace the entire 23 that have left. You expect some to come up through your C teams... but not all. Maybe 1/2 of them. We turned around and sold Jose Rodriguez too, who was the best of the C team guys who came up last year.

Has Barca B lost all 23 of its players from 2 years ago and replaced them with 2 signings total? (and those 2 have happened this month as Zidane pushed for them). I doubt it. I highly doubt it. You've only listed 12 there.... not 23. The entire squad.

Another big thing is that he's completely changing styles. For the past several years, we've been running a 4231 counter attack dependent system. Now we're looking to play a 433 where we move the ball on the ground with some degree of patience. Not tiki taka at all... but basically Carlo's system. Don't have any midfielders that can do it Laughing

overreacting to 3 1-goal losses where we've been the better side in all 3... as soon as we actually start finishing (like score PKs lol at worst), we'll be fine.

I'm not sure I fully understand. You've lost bastically your entire squad from 2 years ago and didn't promote anyone bar 1 or 2 players? So who exactly is playing right now for Castilla? Laughing

We've promoted guys that have no business being promoted because our youth recruiting has been horrible... that's my point. You usually promote 10-12 players and recruit/maintain another 10 to fill out your squad. That's how we've always done it too. But for some reason, we've COMPLETELY dropped the ball on Castilla the past 1+ years. We pissed off guys like Alex and Jose Rodriguez = they left. We either promoted to Madrid or loaned out everyone else in the process too (Carvajal, Nacho, Jese, Morata, Pacheco, Denis, Joselu, Juanfran, Casado, Borja, etc.).

Our youth system in terms of B and C are a complete mess going into this season. No planning whatsoever. We're going to suck at both those teams until some players develop and/or we bring in new blood.

I never said that. We are nowhere near the level of Barca B this season. We suck. My point is that you can't blame Zizou or the Madrid C coach. Putting makeup on an ugly girl doesn't make her pretty suddenly... I'm hoping the kids progress during the year so, come January perhaps, our level is ok.

Spanish federation investigating Zidane for coaching Real Madrid Castilla without the necessary qualifications. Could face ban of 4-20 games, or 1-6 months. (marca.com)

The debate over Zidane's coaching credentials has taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks. On 30th August, MARCA reported that the RFEF Coaches' Committee intended to monitor the situation with the Frenchman following a complaint filed by the schools director of the Centro Nacional de Formación de Entrenadores (National Coaches' Training Centre, CENAFE).

It all boils down to Zizou allegedly violating the rules by assuming the role of head coach of Real Madrid Castilla without being in possession of the necessary qualification. What started out as merely a monitoring exercise has now led to an investigation being opened by the Federation's Competition Committee that could see the Frenchman and even Real Madrid itself landed with a ban.

Zidane and Real could face stiff penalties. Article 104 states that such violations carry the punishment of a ban for four to 20 games, or one to six months. The initial CENAFE complaint has been added to with a report sent to the Competition Committee by the Coaching Committee.

MARCA has been told that the report includes videos and photos which show that Zidane may have been performing the duties of head coach. Even articles published on Real Madrid's own website talk about 'Zizou' as the team's 'numero uno'.
