Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 15
WWE Smackdown, set to air tonight, was filmed on Tuesday—that's no surprise. But for the first time, a pre-production broadcast of the show—with unedited crowd noise, missed cues and all—has made its way online.
It is, like the Raw script that leaked last month, a genuinely fascinating look at how the spectacular behemoth that is televised pro wrestling comes to be.
The episode showed up on Youtube, but has since been taken down. But it's been preserved on more secure hosts—you can watch it here. (Spoiler alert, obviously, if you care about the outcome of the matches.)
But the production is what matters! Worth taking note of:
Announcers Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield making entrances, with their own music, prior to the start of the show—and JBL getting a playful shove off the ring stairs from the cameraman. Cole: "I cannot wait until he takes that bump coming down that ramp."
The audience's actual reactions. The pretaped Smackdown is notorious for sweetening (even dubbing over) cheers and boos to reinforce the ostensible facedom or heeldom of wrestlers.
Cole and JBL's constant chatter through their headsets with show producer Kevin Dunn and Vince McMahon—it's amazing to me how involved McMahon still is with his product.
Starting at 1:50 of the first video, ring announcer Tony Chimel's botched introduction of Jimmy Hart. Cole: "Is he going to introduce Jimmy, since he just did? Chimel just introduced him. Somebody might want to tell him, I don't think he knows." JBL: "He doesn't know, he's looking over there like a goof."
At 51:52 of the second video, Cole asks McMahon about some talking point, "Do you want me to say that every time, because I've said it a shitload of times tonight." We don't hear Vince's reply, but we do hear Cole's cowed reaction: "OK...yes sir...yes sir...OK, I've got it sir."

Cesaro *speaks in Italian*
JBL:'' I think he was talking about Berlusconi's bunga bunga parties.''
Whenever WWE go to commercials Vince Mcmahon shouts instructions to Cole

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 15
MT enough with your Bo to Wyatt family ffs
He'd single handedly ruin the whole thing. I imagine he'll fight/join them one day but it has to be at least 2 *bleep* years after he gets rid of this ultra cheesy gimmick otherwise he'll single handedly ruin everything.
Bah gawd it's the 5'10 180 pound monster motivational heel

By the time Cena becomes heel you'll probably be in your mid forty and have two children.

Bo-lieve.
He needs a better finisher though than a Stratusfaction/tornado DDT.

After the original Sin Cara returned to Mexico and said for months that he had the right to legally use that name, he's now saying that he thinks he should have a new name to help break free from his past characters.

Word is that the official on-screen decision about the WWE World Heavyweight Title will be made on this Monday's Memorial Day RAW from Knoxville, TN. There was some speculation that they might carry the angle out over a few weeks.

While in the UK last week, London native Layla spoke to Bang Showbiz about how she would like to host the Strictly Come Dancing TV show. For what it's worth, the article noted that Layla said she wants to return to the UK for good this year.

The Miz was in action on the last part of WWE's European tour so he should be returning to WWE TV at this week's tapings.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 15
It's said that at least one cable sports channel was very interested in signing WWE before the deal with NBCUniversal was done last week.
When the channel heard what WWE wanted in return, they lost interest. Word is that WWE overplayed their hand in negotiations from day one and that's what led to a lack of bids from other networks.
The perception in the TV industry is that WWE was cheap programming that helps their station with ratings.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 15
The latest word is Daniel Bryan will be appearing on next Monday night's episode of Raw and he will be relinquishing the WWE world heavyweight championship. The idea, apparently, is not to rush him back too soon, instead focusing on his long term health.
Bringing him back and having him drop the belts himself gives them the ability to book a segment to gain a ton of sympathy for him on his way out so he can be really hot upon his return. It is expected he'll be right back in the main event scene when he does come back.

Re: The Official WWE Thread - Part 15
As for what they'll do with the WWE world heavyweight title, it doesn't appear as thought there are any plans in regards to the Payback pay-per-view (PPV). That show is all but totally booked up already and considering the new model with the WWE Network, there's no need to alter current storylines.
Instead, they'll build to Money in the Bank, with the current idea being two Money in the Bank matches: One for the WWE world title and one for the briefcase to challenge for it anytime the winner wants over the next year. That could change, of course, but it's one possibility, apparently the strongest one right now.

If everything goes according to plan, the winner of the title could end up defending it against either Daniel Bryan or Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. You can expect Lesnar back, by the way, just after the Battleground event.
