Premier League - Chelsea vs Norwich City

Chelsea's final home match of the 2013/14 football season will see the Blues welcome relegation battlers Norwich City to Stamford Bridge to face off in a game which could mathematically seal for the home side automatic qualification to the Group Stages of the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League with a guaranteed Top 3 Premier League finish. A draw for the Blues would effectively be enough to do just that, on account of their huge goal difference advantage over 4th-placed Arsenal, and with 5 losses in their last 5 league games and 9 straight losses in their last 9 away games for the Canaries, the Londoners will surely be feeling that is well, well within their grasp.

The visitors, contrastingly, have been in freefall of late. 7 points clear of the relegation zone just over only 5 weeks ago, the Canaries now find themselves right smack in it, currently level on points with, but below on GD, Sunderland, whom they've played a game more than. A loss here would mean one more win for the Black Cats in their 3 remaining games would all but relegate the hapless Canaries, and this fact will without question be indelibly on the minds of the club's players when they take the field come Sunday morning.










The corresponding fixture last season over a full year and a half ago was a romping by the home side. After falling behind to a Grant Holt goal relatively early on, the Blues blasted 4 past their opponents through Fernando Torres, Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard, and Branislav Ivanovic to keep up their sensational start to the campaign under club legend Robbie Di Matteo, but which would eventually prove to be his penultimate league victory as Blues manager just over a month before his dismissal.










The reverse fixture earlier in this season at Carrow Road was also an eventual thumping by the Londoners,  albeit it with a shade more difficulty than the previous one. The Blues took the lead very early on through Oscar, but the home side stood resolute from then on out and pulled themselves back level with just over 20 minutes remaining through Anthony Pilkington. The Blues ramped up the pressure in search of a winner thereafter, and eventually broke through again through Eden Hazard before a first Chelsea goal wonder-strike a minute later from Willian on his Premier League debut sealed the points for the guests.


















Petr Cech is the only known absence for Chelsea after the Czech international dislocated his shoulder in the Blues' UCL semifinal first leg against Atletico Madrid, while Norwich have no injuries themselves.

I hope we really do relegate this sack of shit for a team.

Well if we beat them, Sunderland still have to win one more game to finish it, and they're away to United the day before, so it's likely to be put off. But if they beat West Brom at home mid-week, these lot are effectively down.

We'll win this, they are soo poor.

Let's hope Liverpool lose to Palace and Everton beat City.

They are of poor quality, but I don't know what's there to hate about them.

But they're going down all right as they will surely lose this game and then it won't save them even if they beat Arsenal on the final day (because I believe Sunderland will win one of their remaining games).

I don't like them because of how they bend over to Suarez   

I actually like Norwich so it is a shame to see them basically get relegated.

Sunderland's win over United today means a win for us tomorrow all but relegates this lot.
