With Villa' intelligent movement and Adrian's speed as a secondary runner, they will give Madrid enough problems. Ramos and Pepe biggest weaknesses to me are switching off and letting a runner in behind them. Those two biggest strengths are this.
The only thing they will miss from Costa is the potential of controversy and therefore decisions from the ref.
Exactly how I feel. Pepe and Ramos struggle when they don't face regular cfs.
no not at all
If you want to beat them you use fast skillful CFs. Somebody like Kun would give them a torrid time. Adrian won't because he doesn't make very good runs. Playing without a striker won't work either unless it's Messi who acts as both cf and midfielder
Nah. Every Classico, even the ones we suck in, 2 or 3 times every game we get someone running in behind the defence. Even the motionless Messi gets in behind. Alexis always profits this way also.
Adrian is good at that, did it to Chelsea, did it to us.
Problem with those two is they are impulsive, they see danger in front and react. That's really nice against a relatively static guy who cant get up to a decent speeds (Mandzukic) but a problem against someone who runs behind.
No doubt in my mind, Atletico will get at least one golden chance in this game with a ball over the top/in behind those two.

I keep forgetting this match is going to be played, such is my interest levels for it. But I think that will change by Saturday morning.
I just want 2 things 1) a cracking match 2) An Atletico win
Not arsed about anything else.

Re: Champions League Final: Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid discussion
Diego Costa has given Atletico Madrid fresh hope he could face Real Madrid after taking part in training ahead of Saturday's Champions League final.
The striker was considered a major fitness doubt after limping out of last weekend's title-clinching 1-1 draw at Barcelona, but he was able to complete a number of drills at Estadio da Luz.
Costa has been struggling with a minor hamstring injury and it remains to be seen whether Atletico will take a risk on the 25-year-old, who is expected to join Chelsea later in the summer.
Reports suggest the Spain international has turned to horse placenta treatment in a desperate bid to be fit, but Sky Sports' Guillem Balague questioned whether he can recover in time.
He said: "This was controlled movement, no-one is testing themselves really.
"I'm pretty sure that Diego Costa's been asked not to stretch himself because he will be given all the time he needs, until the last minute of the game before they actually decide what they are going to do with him.
"It will be touch and go.
"It wasn't a proper tear they say, which looks like perhaps he will make it, but nature is nature and it will almost be like a miracle."
Midfielder Turan, who has been nursing a pelvic problem, was also able to take part in the light session at the stadium in Lisbon, which hosts the final.

Re: Champions League Final: Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid discussion
Mind games galore. After Arda and Costa joined Atleti's training session yesterday both Pepe and Benzema joined Real Madrid's today so apparently only Alonso is missing from our team and none from Atleti's. May the best team win

Really nervous about this game. Atletico are just so good defensively and really good tactically.

Re: Champions League Final: Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid discussion
Sergio Ramos feels Gareth Bale could win the Champions League for Real Madrid on his own, as he heaped praise upon his team-mate, saying he has had "an incredible debut season" in Spain.
The Wales international joined the Spanish giants from Tottenham Hotspur last summer for a record fee of €100 million. The forward has reaped the benefits of the move already, having scored the winner in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona and is preparing for Saturday's Champions League final against city rivals Atletico.
And Ramos has been impressed by the way the 24-year-old "laughed" at the pressure that accompanied such a price tag and says he has done remarkably well in his first year at the club.
"Gareth has had an incredible debut season," he told Goal. "When you consider the pressure that came with his transfer fee, he has had to adjust to a new country, and of course to a new league and style of football - he has done more than anybody could have imagined.
"Even for the best players in the world they often find their first season in a new league one of transition, but Gareth has just laughed at that."
The defender also believes the former Spurs player could be the one to tip the Champions League final in Real's favour.
"He has shown what he is capable of in finals already this season - the goal that won us the Copa Del Rey was one that only special players can produce.
"It is about time this club won the Champions League again. It will be a team effort of course to win against a very good Atletico team - but Gareth has proved he has the qualities to win the biggest games on his own."

LMFAO. No Pepe or Alonso. Benzema woefully out of form and CR 30% fit.
Atleti will win easily. No way Madrid will breach that defense.
