This is a fair point
Possession whores make me laugh. Somewhere along the line a few years ago, people managed to forget that the objective of football is to outscore your opponent. And they somehow decided that possession should, in fact, determine the winner.
Logic

Last year Bayern raped barca both games on counter by finishing their chances and without holding much possession. No one cried, hail bayern.
People have somehow become convinced that this possession trend means that one team is better than the others because they hold more possession. frak that shit.
footy is like a game of chess, we baited them, and they fall into our trap. boohoo be mad

Nah, it's sad. It seems that the future of football is having 10 men inside your area and then counter-attack. And as you saw last night, when 2 team who uses that style play against each other, its a boooooooooooooooring game..
Then go watch cricket.
Rather than that, I just don't see Real Madrid, Chelsea or Atleti play unless its a big game.

So....youre calling me an idiot? Seriously?
And El Gunner, im really not worked up at all. I havent insulted anyone either. I seriously thought he, and anyone else who acts like that on an internet forum, was 12 years old. Im completely calm though, if it doesnt seem like it then I apologize.

Lets see what was the perfect scenario for Bayern, they kept the ball at mid encouraging Madrid players to attack and use space behind them, something that did not happen. That made pep to switch the formation. The bottem line is a team wants to create space and time for attackers to hit the target, isnt that the case ?

In that case do us all a favour and stop commenting in these threads. Your whining is somewhat entertaining but really you should save yourself and the rest of us the trouble.

Tbh even MT is convinced the possession football doesn't win you games anymore, that says something about it.

dat pass
Extremely bad pass tbh since it was bouncing all over the place. Should have just rolled it through on the ground.
Shocking miss from CR though.
Now THESE are great passes

i have this sinking feeling that the two misses will cost madrid in the second leg

It was a nice team play goal by Real Madrid, but it could've been prevented Alaba decision in that play was shocking. No one was coming down the middle he was with Benz and decides to go towards Coentrao who was already being chased by Dante and Boateng, leaving Benz wide open, even if the cross/pass got through Neuer could've reached out or Alaba could've applied some defensive pressure on Benz instead he failed to clear it came in Neuer way and left Benz wide open.

Perfectly set up by Carlo. Madrid should have been up 3 goals by half time. Guardiola and his weird decisions. Bastian should not have started, Martinez, Gotze and Muller should be starters in the next game. The passive attacks are getting ridiculous, they had no penetration till Muller came on. Madrid have this tie in the bag. Bayern have to attack in the next game. I'm going with 2-1 Real Madrid on the return leg.

From what I saw, most of the time the ball was just outside Real Madrid's penalty area. They were trying to create by either crossing the ball or dribbling mixed with some shots. What else can you do? If you saw last night game, then you would have seen that it does not matter what style you use against a 10 man wall. They are all as ineffective as each other. All you can do is hope that you get lucky..

So we're all just going to pretend that it takes no skill whatsoever to set a team up to do what Madrid done, and do actually carry it out to near perfection?
Sound.

Yeah, you're on the right track but I personally wouldn't say you guys baited them.Mr Nick09 wrote:El Gunner wrote:Thought you didn't watch the gameMr Nick09 wrote:Last year Bayern raped barca both games on counter by finishing their chances and without holding much possession. Madrid played a very well organised game, and Bayern who weren't at their best were made to look very pointless with their possession football by Madrid's game plan. Madrid, as the ever beasting counter attacking team that they are, scored on a fabulous one and could've done so on 2 more other occasions.
In a nutshell, I would say Madrid played a wise game and they got the reward.
