In a sense its actually good news for Villa.Benteke would mostly have left them this season but now them will get another season from him

Hmm hmm, perhaps you are right. On the other hand his season hasn't been quite as eye-catching as the first one, so maybe the interest would have been cooler anyway?

It's horrible news for Benteke himself in any case, though. For Aston Villa this was probably the least worst time for such an injury on Benteke as they are already safe and it's some 4-5 months until the start of new season.

Welcome to the Championship, fellas.

On a separate note, I have this strange feeling that Spurs will make a move for Jay Rodriguez in the summer..

Tottenham are in a bit of a difficult situation in terms of striker buys, imo. Should they try to get someone who is better than Adebayor and Soldado, which would cost a lot, or just get a third striker for depth and hope that Ade keeps on firing (and keeps his head straight) and that Soldado improves in his 2nd season?

They paid £26m for Soldado just last summer, so I don't think they can afford to buy another £20m+ striker and have one of them sit on the bench. So they'll probably go for someone less costly yet with potential to be really good, hope that they get lucky like we did with Sturridge. DoubleE's guess of Jay Rodriguez might fit the bill nicely, btw.

That hasn't really changed their chances of getting relegated, to be honest. They didn't get a points deduction, just a fine.

If Spurs buy any player from Southampton it will probably be Lallana, to be honest.

Yes, I do think there could be serious questions asked over Mourinho's decision to loan out Lukaku but that's all hindsight at this point. His comments on his current striking options are relatively accurate, even if it is down to his own mistakes/decisions.

Spurs are a club that need to sell to buy.People got carried away with their 100mil splurge but in reality they still ended with a negative spend. They even had a negative spend the season they reach CL.

So unless they can offload the likes of Soldado Paulinho Lamela for decent fees doubt they will be able to afford the likes of Lukaku.

Think they will go for Remy as he has a cheap buy out clause and PL proven.

Looking to spend 25m on Lukaku (say what you will but telegraph is a respectable source) when they don't even have a manager next season. rofl

We'll be resting many of our first team players for the Bayern game. This will be a close match.

you guys are inaccurate

Lukaku left as soon as eto'o came because he assumed he wouldnt get chances this season. Mou wanted him to stay. Lukaku had a bust-up with Mou thats why they were having their public war of words in the beginning of the season.

Lukaku is a massive cry baby, whiner. These new Belgians think theyre gods.

Lukaku for 25 mill is more than enough. I'd price him at around 17-22mill.
