MaTs was brought in to be our main guy, and will be our regular starter soon enough. He's been mia due to injury, but he looked far superior to Bravo in preseason and I'm sure the club knows this

Well, I really hope everything turns out well for him, The move to Barca was always risky for a young goalkeeper and I really hope he didn't make a mistake. And yeah, you are right he is a very good football player - more often than not he had the most touches of the ball at M'gladbach.

No. Just because X player was bought without our new manager being there doesn't mean he'll neglect him. MaTs has shown a lot of potential, but at the same time he's young and may have a lot of pressure to deal with and our back line won't make things easy for him, hence why like I said I believe Enrique bought in Bravo a more experience player in all departments at the same time it gives him competition. Bravo hasn't done anything wrong and has two clean sheets, so its not like MaTs will walk into the starting XI once he returns, so he'll have to fight. Enrique seems to love giving youth chances as he has shown these past 2 games, so wouldn't worry. MaTs also given the no. 1 shirt. Enrique said he hasn't decided on a no. 1 yet, so Bravo isn't safe.

Actually Lucho didn't want Bravo. He wanted to roll with MaTs and Masip, which means he is more than comfy with MaTs as our starter. He will start not long after he returns from injury, no question imo

masip broke his finger in training btw, and will also be out a bit

He definitely has some Neuer DNA, albeit without the cockiness and his beast of a physique.

Well, I'm happy MAtS had a good match against APOEL. Ob course he is one of the "modern keepers" in Germany, that is, he was taught to be a "playing goal-keeper" like Manuel Neuer. Still he names Oliver Kahn as his big idol, even though Kahn used a more classic style.

Can't blame him though Neuer is only 6 years older then MATS not many people look up to someone of that difference in age unless family member etc.
but he probably grew up watching O. Kahn and I'm sure many young keepers not only german looked up to Kahn despite of style.

Well, Jens Lehmann is usually touted as having had a more modern approach than Oliver Kahn, so it would have been more logical to go for Lehmann as idol than Kahn. Interstingly, Manuel Neuer names Lehmann as his idol.

Might be connected to the fact that Lehmann too was from the Schalke youth hmm

Well, true that. On the other hand, as I was never so fond of Jens Lehmann, so it still puzzled me. ^^

I can't wait to see him playing it out of the back. So much more comfortable than Bravo with his feet. His long balls are also very accurate.

In that respect you will have a lot of fun with MAtS. At BMG, MAtS was often the player with the most touches.

I'm really saddened about Marc-André ter Stegen's situation. Sad

I guess he would have thought twice about the transfer if he'd have known that Barca would decide to sign another keeper who would force him to be benched most of the time. After all, he's still a young keeper and needs playing time.

Huh? Please read my post again. I said that MAtS would have thought twice about the transfer if he'd have known he'd be benched. Don't you agree with that?

nah MaTS needs to be warmed up to the team
he's only 22 and will probably be Barcas starter until he retires unless he chooses to leave like valdes.
no need to rush him.

Well, it depends on how long he will be benched for Claudio Bravo. I'm pretty sure he would be highly dissatisfied if he doesn't have regular playing time for more than one season.

To be fair, we've only been keeping clean sheets thanks to our solid defense. Bravo hasn't been really tested before Malaga.

Neither against Malaga. He saved the free kick which was very savable and he was poor at that. I don't like him.

Incredibly early to jump to conclusions. I was very vocal about not signing Bravo, but its still early and there is no need for panic.

Well, some goalies didn't have too much luck with their transfers lately. Lars Unnerstall, Fabian Giefer (albeit he is injured now anyway), Keylor Navas, Jan Oblak...

Navas is being treated terribly..but every player should know when you sign for Madrid, alot of unjust things can happen.

I dont know anything about the first two.

Oblak is a interesting one. He only played the 2nd half of last season as a starter for Benfica, he was on the bench before that. He only came in because of the continous mistakes of the regular goalie.

Before that he was on loan at various other places and often not starting. Moya is an experienced guy so im not so surprised he is starting of Oblak.

Rumor has it Oblak was so bad at Atleti that they asked Benfica if they wanted him back.

Lars Unnerstall left Schalke to get the number 1 spot in Düsseldorf as he didn't get past Ralf Fährmann, just to end at the bench again (behind Michael Rensing), while Fabian Giefer joined Schalke from Düsseldorf as he thought he could get past Ralf Fährmann (who happened to be really great last season, btw). Unfortunately, Giefer got badly injured in pre-season, so the competition was off before this season even started and now he will likely not be able to dispose Ralf Fährmann who again does a very good job at Schalke.
