Our renaissance is secured, Berlu's gonna splash the cash.
In all seriousness though, an excellent progressive move from the league if this does occur to use all the resources available to the sport and encourage the interest and participation of all.

32 - Atalanta have collected 32 points at home so far: only Juventus (45) and Roma (39) have done better in the current Serie A. Assurance.
10 - In 2014, only Bologna (seven) have scored less than Inter (10) in Serie A. Flat. #InterUdinese
11 - The number of goals scored by José Callejón in Serie A - he had netted 10 league goals in his 3-season spell at Espanyol. Growth,

Re: The 2013/14 Calcio Saga: Episode III
Serie A clubs increased revenue last season by eight per cent, but also spending by four per cent, with total debt set at €1.5bn.
The Gazzetta dello Sport have followed up a recent report on the state of the Italian top-flight clubs’ accounts, which revealed earlier this month that only six teams ran a profit during 2012-13.
A more in-depth look at the accounts of the 20 clubs has produced overall figures for the League and shows that total revenue has increased on 2011-12’s figures by eight per cent, to €1.772bn, whilst total spending increased four per cent to €2.365bn, resulting in a loss of an aggregate figure for last season between the clubs of €203m.
Total debt remains at €1.572bn between Serie A’s sides, with every club posting a debt, Fiorentina with the lowest at €5.1m and Inter the worst at €293m. League leaders Juventus hold a debt of €227.1m whilst Milan owe a total of €221.6m.
Roma with €136.3m and Lazio with €102m are the only two other clubs with debt into nine figures.

I saw the Gazzetta headlines today, and Howard Webb wants to ref in Italy. How likely is this?

All of a sudden I think it was Sepp Blatter or someone high up who wanted to introduce female refs wearing sexy uniform or something to attract more viewers? Most other sports have that in some form, dancers, cheerleaders, etc., would love football to go that way with some more entertainment to go with the football

I' d like foreign referees in Serie A but it's impossible for the retrograde Serie A system.
Pity, maybe just them can give us a penalty kick this year ( we haven't one from 32 matches )
impossible also because Italian referees ' designator thinks Italian referees are the best in the world

Re: The 2013/14 Calcio Saga: Episode III
James Pallotta says new stadiums are essential for Italian football, there is no rush over Rudi Garcia and that Francesco Totti’s No 10 will retire with him.
The Roma veteran has just reached 700 appearances for the club in all competitions, over the course of a 22-year career so far.
“It would be great to be able to replicate players like him, De Rossi and Florenzi,” club President Pallotta has considered on Sky Sport 24 this week.
“In Boston we had Larry Bird, we had Paul Pierce, and it was very difficult to decide to sell him, but it was good for the team.
“I’d like to have players who are 10-15 years in the squad.
“When Francesco stops? We will retire the No 10 jersey, there is no doubt - his farewell won’t last just an hour either, it will be at least a month.”
Pallotta was in the capital this week to present the club’s plans for a new 52,000-seater stadium.
“The construction of the stadiums is essential for the development of football in Italy. Juventus was the first team and has a great stadium.
“Rome is visited by 30 million tourists. I hope that our project will be followed by others.”
Attention at the club is also on an apparent desire to renew Coach Rudi Garcia’s contract.
“We have spoken about it, but Rudi is not in a hurry. We are ready to sit down with him at any time.
“Rudi is very happy here and also thanks to the new stadium I see no reason why he should not stay for a long time and we want him to.
“Rudi thinks only about coaching, to win and take us into the Champions League, not about the new contract, which many others have spoken of.
“It’s not an obsession, whilst the €90 I gave him the other night [as a joke on camera post-Torino] may be enough…
“The Champions League? An all-Italian final between Roma and Juventus would be perfect, as well as fantastic.”
Pallotta was asked if he has been surprised by developing contract situations with players in the game, and the role agents play.
“For me, it was a surprise, as well as other aspects related to contracts. I have spoken with many European club owners, annoyed by relationships with certain agents.
“Sooner or later, this is something that will have to change.”

It's not just this rumor, its the fact that sooner rather than later Kovacic will leave due to mismanagement. We've seen it before, many many times

Palotta has learned so much since taking over from Di Benedetto, who really was rather clueless.

Reminds me of John Henry. These American owners I've learned (of NESV) were oblivious to the way of football during their inception yet learned remarkably fast, without compromising the club values and traditions. Very impressed with both of them despite my problems with some of Palotta's decisions.

Yeah the learning curve has been pretty good for the American owners currently. They are learning from the mistakes the Glazers and Randy Lerner made in the PL. Palotta and Thohir in Serie A should be leading the charge to promote a shift in thinking on the business-side of the game in the league. Roma are obviously progressing faster than Inter given we've had our new managment in place for almost 3 seasons now, but if Thohir can make the right decisions, no reason Inter can't be back up there as well. I personally have very little problem understanding Palotta's decisions, though they are almost entirely business-driven...which can be a bit frustrating.
