Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar is on the verge of joining MLS side Toronto FC, according to Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
The Brazil No.1 joined the Rs in the summer of 2012, but has featured just once - in an FA Cup defeat to Everton - following relegation to the Championship, with manager Harry Redknapp preferring Robert Green.
Cesar has been selected for the March friendly against South Africa, and is set to gain some valuable playing time in MLS ahead of the 2014 World Cup on home soil.
"Julio is in our group [for the South Africa game], he should be officially introduced to his new club," Scolari told reporters. "Toronto should be finalising the last few details and he should be in great condition. There will be no problem with him.
"Lots of players arrive in the United States thinking it will be easy and then end up not playing. They stay for four or five months and then leave.
"We wish he were playing and now he will be. The MLS is not the end of [a] career."
Brazil technical coordinator Carlos Alberto Parreira added: "The MLS is technically not one of the best in the world, but it is very competitive. It was really important for us that he played.
"Julio played the last match for us and he hadn't been playing. He was really well, playing well, his reflexes were all perfect.
"If he plays 10, 15 matches until the World Cup it will be great. And he has that quality of still being the same player despite not being active."
Toronto recently announced the signing of Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe, who will join the club at the end of February.

Probably when NYCFC joins in and l believe the new CBA gets hammered out.
lt will be unfair if they are able to sign three DPs and loan up to 4 MC players.. basically potentially fielding 7 DPs. But lm sure because that the MLS is still a single entity that things like that won't happen.
When red bull took over the metrostars people thought that RB would just sign players for crazy money to their european squad and loan them to NY for nothing but that never happened. But still in a league with a cap there should be a rule that prevents other team from paying the players salary or at least counting what the other team is paying against it because that defeats the purpose of a cap

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
I think Iturbe's arrival in Rome does hinge a bit on whether we can hold onto Pjanic and/or Strootman in the summer though. This could also mean choosing not to excercise our option to buy Nainggolan outright, though we've already spent quite a bit of money on that deal.
As it stands, we'll have Strootman, Pjanic, Nainggolan and Paredes at the time that we'll begin negotiating to buy Iturbe. I can't help but feel that at least one of those 4 is going to leave. It's likely going to be one of Strootman or Pjanic unfortunately.

Why do you think Iturbe's future is connected to those players when they're quite a bit different?Maybe financially speaking?
Those are mostly CM's except Paredes while Iturbe is a wide forward.

Now I understand why Verona has sold Jorginho in this January, despite they could wait and the price would be risen...the only way to get money for Iturbe

Wasn't his contract expiring?I think they sold him because he didn't want to renew and price was going to get lower.

Sorry, I didn't clarify that originally. Yes I meant purely on a financial basis. We're still a "sell-to-buy" club at the moment so in order for us to shell out 20m+ for Iturbe, we're probably going to have to lose one of our stars. Highly unlikely that it will be Paredes so that leaves one of Nainggolan, Strootman or Pjanic, with the latter being the most likely to leave and the former being the least likely. Strootman is really heads or tails depending on the offers we get for him.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Stephan El Shaarawy has stressed his desire to remain at AC Milan after being the subject of an offer from an unnamed Russian club.
The 21-year-old has been plagued by injury problems this season - having made only one start in Serie A - as the Rossoneri have endured a disappointing campaign so far.
The Italy international revealed he rejected the chance to leave San Siro last month, claiming he wants to win silverware with Clarence Seedorf's side.
"There has been an offer from a Russian team, but I decided to stay at Milan because that’s what I want," El Shaarawy told Corriere dello Sport. "It’s my intention to become a champion here."
Massimiliano Allegri was replaced by Seedorf as coach in January amidst their turbulent 2013-14 campaign and El Shaarawy is determined to be a part of a new era at San Siro.
"I’ve been dogged by bad luck," he added. "In September I had a muscular problem and since then I have had a succession of niggles.
"And it culminated in December with the operation on my foot. It’s important for me to get back to Milanello as soon as possible and try to heal.
"It’s been a difficult few months, what with the injury and the coaching change. I owe Allegri a lot - he immediately gave me confidence when I came into the team.
"But I’ve had Seedorf as a team-mate and he helped me in the locker room in the past. I know he can do a great job.
"I’ve never felt excluded from this team, even when I was at my lowest with injury."

I'd still welcome Strootman at Liverpool with open arms if he becomes available... wanted him last summer and if anything, he's only become a more desirable asset for a football club. I would be very shocked to see Roma sell him though.

On a side note - it is interesting that for German teams, transfers usually sound like "done and dusted" when announced, while many PL sides are usually mentioned to "scout" or "monitor" players for ages, only to have them snapped away by other clubs that don't announce they were interested in that player beforehand. ^^
