This is more about Marquinhos than the thread title right? Because I think everyone, even Roma fans...thought, he isnt that good right now.

Re: Can we stop proclaiming players world class after they play good for like 6 months? it's getting embarrassing
Lol no one said that about Marquinhos.
They said he had the talent to be WC one day, which is true from what i saw at Roma.
I agree with your premise but a lot of the time no one says it and when players get hyped people overreact and like people are saying they are WC.
When in reality no one ever said that.

I agree with the title, but you're aiming this at the one young CB that people barely ever called WC. At least not that I seen.

Yeah, this thread is totally aimed at Marquinhos...
And CBs get some of their criticism very wrongly, too. A CB can play 80 minutes brilliantly, 10 minutes poorly, and get criticised massively. A striker can play 80 minutes poorly, 10 minutes brilliantly and get praised because he scored.
Off the top of my head, players who have recently been hyped up too much after a short spell of excellence, there aren't too many... Fellaini, Lambert, Remy, Matic.

Ramos can play badly for a year, and be named as the best at his positionArt Morte wrote:Yeah, this thread is totally aimed at Marquinhos...

Who overhyped him though? in any case his drop in form was quite easily explainable.
He's not a centre forward, his best form came playing as an SS or from the left where he could use his dribbling ability to run at back 4s.
He can't lead the line at all, which is why i wanted us to sign Bony.

World class talent /= World class now
I don't think anyone in the forum told he is world class. But I do remember another 19 year old being called Top 3 CB in the world

Like Diego Costa, Aaron Ramsey, Luis Suárez ("Best Player of the Past 5 Months"), and some others. It's certainly not just Marquinhos if what Mr Nick says is true.

don't let Real Madrid hear that, they'll buy him immediately for 100m+ as he'd fit nicely with the Galacticos.

Many people thought Roma made the deal of the century with Marquinhos, PSG had him waaaaay overpriced. Also I don't think anyone called him WC expect maybe the PSG board

Only thing embarrassing is Nick's definition of world class

Marquinhos?? Mediocre defender in Serie A, wasn't even an important player at Rome... It just shows how comical PSG is.

Wat?
He benched a seasoned veteran like Nico Burdisso and he wasn't important?

He played 22 times in his first European season as an 18-year old and he wasn't considered important to Roma?

Pray tell....what is your definition of important?

An important player for a team for me is a player that has a signifficant positive influence in the team's display and when he's replaced the team suffers ...
If you consider he was important for Rome, i'm ok with it, your opinion... That doesn't exclude the fact that he was a mediocre defender in Serie A.

And I'll accept that you didn't watch one single game he played in last season, this much is very obvious.
You really shouldn't post about players you know nothing about, brah.
Thanks for playing.
