Why isn't some PL club in need of a central midfielder, any central midfielder really, thinking of coughing up that money for the former best U-19 German player?
If he's available for that sum, like, did Schalke say Tottenham are asking 5.5m?, we should be all over that. But it's possible that Tottenham won't sell to a top-4 rival.
Yes I read (fwiw) Tottenham want something like 5 or 6m for him from Schalke (they paid Schalke 2m one year ago, so Schalke is not really pleased plus they're always broke for some reason).
Now I don't know if thyt means he could go to a top rival for that money.
But I wasn't even talking about you when I said "in need of any CM really" lol. And he's from a family of die-hard Everton fans, so...
Just read something about him going to Fulham (!) and I thought what a *bleep*-ing waste.
Seeing that nowadays 40m pounds are paid to sign mediocre players from other clubs benches.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
It’s reported Hernanes has agreed personal terms with Inter, but the club needs to find €20m cash for Lazio.
The midfielder was filmed leaving the training ground in tears this afternoon, hugged and consoled by Biancocelesti supporters.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Brazilian already emptied his locker at Formello and has now agreed personal terms with Inter.
Agent Joseph Lee is in advanced negotiations and wrote out a contract worth €3.2m per season plus performance-related bonuses, rising to €3.7m.
However, the problem remains the transfer fee, as now that Ibrahima Mbaye has been removed from the deal, Lazio only want cash.
Their price-tag for Hernanes is between €17m and €20m, the kind of money Inter do not have at their disposal right now.
It’s reported the club and President Erick Thohir are in talks with the banks to receive financial guarantees so they can complete the transfer.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
It’s reported Roma have a deal for Sao Paulo defender Rafael Toloi, who will arrive for his medical tomorrow.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the 23-year-old centre-back will fly in overnight and complete the final details on Friday.
He is able to be registered as an EU player thanks to Italian ancestors, but only if the Italian consulate in Sao Paulo completes the paperwork in time.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is edging closer to joining Barcelona this summer and the deal could be completed within days.
Mundo Deportivo reports that negotiations between Barca and the goalkeeper’s club, Borussia Monchengladbach, are entering the final stage, although the publication doesn’t reveal the fee Barca will pay for the player.
But a five-year contract has been settled between Barca and ter Stegen after sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, a former goalkeeper, gave the move special attention.
Ter Stegen had already told Gladbach he would not renew his contract before it expires in 2015,forcing the Bundesliga club into a dilemma - whether to retain the 21-year-old for another 12 months and lose him on a free transfer, or sell in summer 2014.
It is expected that Barca and Gladbach will confirm the deal as soon as it is completed despite Barca initially wanting to wait for Victor Valdes to announce where he will be playing next season.
Valdes is to leave Camp Nou but insists he will not agree terms with a new club before the end of the season, in contrast with Robert Lewandowski, Mundo says, who is to leave Borussia Dortmund and has already had a medical with his new club, Bayern Munich.
Once ter Stegen is signed Barca have to decide on the identity of their other first team goalkeeper, with the contract of Jose Pinto coming due.
Pinto and Barca previously agreed that they would not discuss a new contract until June.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
Well, Schalke didn't exactly feel like buying back a player for 6 mio Euros that they just sold that same club for for about 1.5 mio Euros, especially considering that his wages were now around 3 mio Euros per year, which is more than Schalke are willing to pay him.Hapless_Hans wrote:Yes I read (fwiw) Tottenham want something like 5 or 6m for him from Schalke (they paid Schalke 2m one year ago, so Schalke is not really pleased plus they're always broke for some reason).Art Morte wrote:If he's available for that sum, like, did Schalke say Tottenham are asking 5.5m?, we should be all over that. Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
Clement Grenier's agent insists that the Lyon midfielder will not be joining Newcastle in the January transfer window, as he does not want to be regarded as Yohan Cabaye's replacement.
Frederic Guerra, has confirmed that his client will remain at the Ligue 1 club.
"It is not easy to say no to a big club like Newcastle but Clement is finally decided to stay in Lyon," Guerra told Le 10 Sport.
"Clement would have arrived at Newcastle - not as Clement Grenier but as Yohan Cabaye's replacement.
"I have the upmost respect for a player of Cabaye's quality. But who deserves to have that tag?
"As his agent I ask is he worth half the price of Cabaye?
"For all those reasons it has led us to decline the offer from Newcastle.
"The conditions of the deal did not seem fair."

Well, one of the main clubs you'd expect to be interested in a young, talented, midfielder would be Liverpool, but there's no way in hell Spurs would be willing to deal.Hapless_Hans wrote:So Holtby can leave Spurs for £5-6m, is that right?

Why others (beyond Fulham who appear to have him now) didn't make a move I don't know.

Considering our record without Cabaye its not too much at all.
Even if he accepted it though, Ashley would have pulled the plug.
Can't have spending money on players now can we.

That's great for FIFA and all, but reality says, "hi." Just like Liverpool, United are direct rivals with Spurs for a CL place at the moment. There's basically no chance Spurs would be willing to sell to them.Valkyrja wrote:If I were Moyes I would buy Holtby. Good player and better than any of United's mids.

Re: Winter Transfer Deadline Day Rumours
No way worth the asking price, Porto must be taking a piss over City here.
He would fit right in because we are thin in the apartment of Centre backs.
This is a desperate buy however.
