From what I have read, Perez supposedly wanted to pay the €40m to Barca and on top of that, another €60m to Neymar's dad..

With a lot of debate. Many are happy that Rosell stepped down, a few would want new elections, but most socis are not vocal against Bartomeu becoming the president. He had some first public appearences that were received very positively, but his third one, were he confirmed that the Club's sue against Laporta board would not be dropped and Cruyff would not be president of honor "because that doesn't exist in Barça statutes" (as if they could not be changed) was again in Rosell's line.

Thanks Free!
It seems there are people calling for a new election (I would love that. Time to get all of Rossells weasels out). Any word on if Laporta would run again?

The effin idiot Rosell won the election on the premise that he will fix the clubs financial difficulties and than splashes all the money on one player that we would have got anyway in a year while having big problems at the back that needed more urgent care. Not to mention that he also ruined the clubs reputation and lost Thiago in the process.
There should be new elections and all the remaining imbeciles that he brought with him that knew about his doings should be banned from the club. I don't get how socis don't see this?

If we didn't sign Neymar Real definitely would have. I think the Barca board had a kind of Cold War mentality about this transfer.windkick wrote:Great article, thanks
The dumbest thing in all this, is not that Neymar might of actually been the most expensive player of all time (and maybe highest paid if the huge fee that went to his father is actually indeed a massive bonus for Neymar, and as the article stated, they just didnt want to rustle Messi's jimmies by saying publicly they were paying Neymar more).
The dumbest thing is that Neymar would of cost us ZERO dollars if we waited until this summer. All we had to was secure some sort of pre-contract with Neymar and his father, and apparently Rossell had great advances with them because of his Brazil connections. Instead, he blew our entire load on one player who was on his last year of his contract and he completely ignored all the other areas that needed work (maybe another CM and a CB or two, maybe even some full backs). And to top it off he doesn't try harder to keep Thiago. Seriously, good riddens. He cared about his legacy and I'm glad it's tarnished for ever.

Instead of the board continuing to give Messi a raise every time some one else makes more than him, they should sign a *bleep* center back.
Btw, now Santos wants to sue Neymars Sr. for taking that 50M something total while they got like 17M and had to share it with the two third party companies. Rossell really shit the bed on this one

Keeping Messi happy is important and overlooked if he wants a raise then honestly the best player in the world deserves a raise, what we should do is instead of investing 600m into stadium expansions we should maybe just spend 5% of that 600m into a cb..

Who says he isn't happy? Seems like they give him like 2 raises per year lol. *bleep* ridiculous. He's already the best paid and has a ton of sponsors. Adding those seats and all that extra shit will actually bring profit to the club in the long run. Giving raise an extra x amount of thousands per week isn't gonna bring us anything new.

He's only gotten 1 raise this year. And if they give him a 2nd this year, then it will be the first time. So they don't give him 2 raises per year.
The economics of football change really quickly. If Messi wanted, he could easily get a lot more elsewhere. So could Ronaldo. But when Ronaldo gets paid 20M after taxes, then Messi surely thinks, and rightfully so, that he deserves at least as much if not more.
If he doesn't deserve as much as Ronaldo then what does he deserve?

Does Messi also give up part of his image rights to the club like Ronaldo?
Thought so.
Disgraceful behaviour from his camp. Ever since Ronaldo renewed there have been countless rumours about Adidas, PSG and whatnot willing to pay Messi's buyout clause. What a coincidence.

a) we don't know if those rumors are really true, or even instigated by his camp.
b) there were plenty of rumors about Ronaldo also. when Iniesta was negotiating his, there were rumors every day. Spanish media makes a living out of this kind of stuff.
c) we can't sit here in judgement not knowing much at all about the negotiations.. image rights or this or that, we really have no comprehensive idea of what is going on.

Re: Rosell stepped down over Neymargate and death threats; Bartomeu new president until 2016
disgraceful? he has never forced his club into transferring out, his father (agent) has downplayed the PSG/City/Chelsea/Bayern moves.
he has never publicly come out and said he is "sad" like someone else we know, the only thing he has done is publicly talk about the vice president or whoever that was about him saying Messi doesn't deserve a raise.

Barcelona Accused of Tax Evasion in $107 Million Neymar Deal
A Spanish prosecutor said four-time European soccer champion Barcelona and its former president should stand trial for evading about 9 million euros ($10.2 million) in taxes in the signing of Brazilian playmaker Neymar.
Barcelona and former executive Sandro Rosell committed two crimes against the Spanish treasury, with Rosell responsible for a further company crime, the prosecutor, Jose Perals, said in a written filing at the National Court.
Current team president Josep Maria Bartomeu should also be investigated after Barcelona failed to withhold 2.8 million euros in taxes last year on income paid to N&N Consultoria Esportiva e Empresarial Ltda, a company owned by Neymar’s parents, Perals said.
In February 2014, after the National Court opened an investigation, Barcelona paid 13.6 million euros to tax authorities to cover a possible shortfall in its signing of Neymar. The club denied any wrongdoing in a statement at the time, saying it had “scrupulously” fulfilled its tax obligations.
According to Perals, Barcelona and Rosell failed to withhold income tax at a rate of 24.75 percent attributable to a non-resident on payments to Neymar and N&N Consultoria in 2011 and 2013 while he was in Brazil. Neymar joined Barcelona from Santos in May 2013.
Real Madrid was also trying to sign Neymar, its president Florentino Perez said in May 2013, adding he proved too expensive. Including tax, the cost of signing Neymar to Barcelona should have totalled 94.9 million euros, or about $107 million, according to Perals.
Rosell quit as Barcelona president in January 2014. He denied wrongdoing in comments made at the time, saying he was resigning to avoid tarnishing the club’s reputation.

Going after Rosell, Bart and the club. So long Bart's hopes for re-election.

Re: Rosell stepped down over Neymargate and death threats; Bartomeu new president until 2016
its funny how neymar was doing so well late 2013 and all of a sudden
an investigation into nermans transfer was opened and he drops form
then the issue goes into oblivion, and suddenly in 2015, Nerman goes
into Ballon D'or mode and all of a sudden, an investigation comes up
from nowhere into he's transfer to unsettle both him and the club
AGAIN, just at the business end of the season!!!! This can't be a
coincidence can it?
I smell Madridspiracy!!!!!!
No wonder nerman didn't look happy against Villarreal and didn't even
smile when he scored Barca's equalizing goal last weekend.
