Which one should we sign?
Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Quick poll on your personal choice for our CM spot, this is actually a handy choice because all three are different and will cost different prices, interested to see what everyone will do.
Matic is a former Chelsea player who is fast becoming one of the best DM's in the world. He is by far the most expensive player of the three but is probably the best. He is a great physical player who also has an eye for a pass, think Mikel with better passing ability. He is the only one of the three to get close to satisfying what we need the most, a passing CM. While he is not as good as a proper DLP, he is better than what we have currently and would be solid defensively. The downside, he'll cost us 30m pounds and will mean we basically bought DL4 for 50m.
Mr. Guarin is option number two and is a probably back up if Matic doesn't go through. He'll cost us about 15m pounds which is marginally more than Rabiot but he is 27 which makes him the most experienced player, doesn't entirely fit in at Inter and is basically discount Yaya Toure. He can do everything well but nothing great. He won't be our best passer but could be a decent 'Meireles' option for a few seasons. The main downside I see is that if you pair him with Ramires, there is a high chance one will be sent off.
At 18 years of age, he'll likely cost 10m and won't be an immediate starter, he is a player with a lot of potential and, if signed, will kill any chances of my doppelganger ever playing for Chelsea. He is a great young player but will basically be another Marco Van Ginkel which could leave us with two young, high potential CM's next season and no experience if Lampard leaves.
Note: I would add more but these three are looking like the main options at present. I just want to know who everyone's favourite it.

Short, sharp and to the point, I see.
despite the high cost of him?
he is my personal choice too.

Back.
Anyway, Matic for me, of those 3. Meh to Guarin and Rabiot wouldn't be anywhere near the first team anyway.

Interesting, so the cost doesn't outweigh the benefit of Matic, for you?

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
In times prior cost would have figured in my opinion, but after spending £25m on Schurrle and £30m on Willian, there should be no reason the club can't/don't/won't spend adequately on a position we actually need strengthened.

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Fair point.
What about the possiblilty of adding Both Guarin and Matic.
Matic - Ramires
Guarin - Mikel
Lampard able to play when needed and Essien can be sold.
That would give us crazy depth!

Depth maybe, but quality in depth? Idk.
Besides, are there even enough squad places for this many recruits?

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
GK: Cech, Schwarzer, Blackman
DEF: Ivanovic, Azpilicueta, Kalas, Ake, Luiz, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Bertrand
MID: Mikel, Ramires, Matic, Guarin, Lampard, Mata, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, KDB
CF: Ba, Torres, Eto'o
That, is a legal PL side, by my count. 17 non-homegrown, 3 youth players and 5 home grown.
CL is much harder but for the PL, I see nothing wrong with that. It does mean no Essien or Hilario, though.

Hmm. Good to know.
Doubt we'd get both, regardless.

Not unless the board thinks one of them is an attacking midfielder

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Guarin could be considered just that, he plays as a No.10 for Inter.

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
He would not make the bench if he is being bought to play as a No.10. He would add extra depth there if needed. I imagine he'd play in the pivot though, he has the attributes of a pivot player, like I say, discount Yaya Toure (prime).

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Go for Matic, Guarin is decent, Rabiot is more potential then anything else.
Matic will significantly improve our midfield. A perfect player to play alongside our best midfielder Ramires.

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Matic.. this is why we should loan our players till they are like 24-25 years old.. they have the talent.
Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Buying Matic is clearly the best option in terms of age, quality and (if we keep him long term) value for money. That said it would make us look pretty stupid and exemplify our inability to integrate youth players

Chelsea should re-sign Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic, says Blues midfielder Ramires:
The Serbian midfielder left Stamford Bridge in 2011, but Brazilian ace Ramires thinks Matic will help the Blues in their trophy hunt this season

Re: Matic Vs Guarin Vs Rabiot
Seriously signing Matic is the furthest step we have taken in years to fix that midfield. I hope we do sign him.
I like Willian a lot and i am happy with his signing, but kinda ridiculous we have no problem spending on forwards but midfield we are so reluctant.
