What is best two striker formation in the game? Or to be more specific what is the best formation for Man Utd where I can utilise both Rooney and Van Persie to their best?

The best formation I personally played with using United was 3-4-1-2

But if you are not comfortable with 3 man defence then try 4-2-2-2, 4-1-3-2, 4-1-2-1-2.

4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1

Just do what United did in my manager mode and sell Rooney to Barca.

And make sure City don't sign both Thiago Silva and Hummels to go with Kompany, Nastasic, Lescott, and Demichelis.

I mostly play 4-1-2-1-2 I will try the 3 man defence.

And it's not manager mode lol. It's a FIFA tournament and I joined late. Man Utd one of the few decent teams availible. I had Neymar, Van Persie and Robben attack after I sold Rooney to Barca and some more scrubs like Nani in FIFA 13

I agree, 3 man defence works very well in FIFA (I can speak for online only).

I play Inter and I don't mess with Mazzari's formation. It works well against pressing opponents because you always have men wide that you can pass to. And I usually find a way to beat people who defend well because the wingbacks often find space behind the opponent's back four. With a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 I hit brick walls sometimes, unable to find space in the final third against a well-organised opponent.

Also most people are not used to playing against a 3-man defence so they try their tried and tested tactics that don't quite work against me

I usually go with Kagawa on the left.

3 man defense sounds like a good idea to fit them in too.

Don't really like a 3 man defense though. Usually leaves you exposed on the wings and a good player can easily exploit.

Yeah, I am loving the 3-4-1-2. 4-4-1-1 with PSG works like a charm but with Man Utd it's quite meh. This is pretty good, I'm still tinkering with player positions. Prefer to have Kagawa at AM.

Picked up Daley Blind from Ajax and Serge Aurier from Toulouse to slowly replace Balzaretti and Maicon, who are declining a pretty ridiculous rate. Totti has already retired so I have shifted Ljajic into his role as False 9/SS/Trequartista

Trying to keep my signings as Garcia and Sabatini-esque as possible.

Need to get Nainggolan and Paredes though now to keep up with our current roster. No way I'll get Paredes for 4.5m like we did in real life though.

Barely got any money in Roma save. Spent a lot of it on scouts, Ricardo Rodriguez for LB and Sommer for GK.

Thinking of getting Muriel/Pato next summer.

We apparently are going to sign young Tonny Sanabria from Barca so I need to find him on the game now too.

What difficulty/transfer settings etc does everyone play career mode on?

I fluctuate the difficult settings per the teams I play and the importance of the match.

Anything below 4 stars is Professional
4 to 4 and a half stars - World Class
5 stars - Legendary

I used default transfer settings.

You never know. I managed to get Matuidi for 5.0m and Luke Shaw for 4.1m.

Naah 3-man defences don't work in old gen but for new gen consoles they work wonders. Mainly because your wingbacks work considerably harder.

It is a totally different game in that regard.

I've been using a 3 man defense with success since Fifa 12 or 13

I hope they fix that glitch where the opposition has a corner/cross, it gets headed out and none of your players are outside the box, so their player gets a free shot.

Also the glitch where the ball bobbles inside the box, it lands to your defender, who immediately gets dispossessed by the opposition player and they get a free shot/goal.

Then there's the throw in glitch. Opposition have a throw in near the box and because there's a gap between the defense and midfield, they once again get a free shot. They basically need to make sure the defense/midfield lines stay closer, or at least make it optional through the tactics.
