Higuian is a better poacher and goalscorer, but Balotelli is the better overall player.

Higuain is really appealing to me because in him I see some of the traits of an Inzaghi-like poacher. He is an excellent finisher and he always knows where to make the runs.
Balo is more creative and more of a focal point for a team. He doesn't need many other players to help him and he can more easily adapt to different styles. He is petulant and foolish, but when he channels that energy into his play he can do some amazing things that Higuain can't match.
In the end I would rather have Balo, but I also have huge respect for Higgy because he is professional, disciplined, and plays that poaching role in the team extremely well.

I think Balotelli is a better footballer and has a higher ceiling, but one of those players will be available for the entire season and the other will get kicked out for 25% of the games so... Higuain.

Higgy is a better finisher, his movement is excellent, he has better off ball movements as well as that instinct to know where to be, when to be at the right time. He can give a defender marking him a nightmare when he's on form. He's an awesome poacher
Balotelli has a creative side that sometimes goes underappreciated/overlooked by people. He drops deep to recover balls and moves plays up all on his own. His technical ability is a defining attribute to him as a player too as he can set up his team mates well.
It really depends on the team and which system you're using. Both are fine players

Balotelli at his best is a ballon d'or candidate. Higuain is not even in that category. Higuain is a great poacher but Balo is a well rounded player that can win games all by himself.
The caveat is Balo's temperament. He just threatened to kill a ref. So in that regard Higuain would be the safer pick if you wanted to start a team. If I was building a team today I would take Higuain because I am tired of Balo's BS and he could end up in jail one day.
But in terms of just pure talent it isn't even close. Balotelli at his best is a top 5 player in the world.

Yes he is. And his performance against a top club like Napoli proved it. He dominated that game and should of had 3-4 goals. Best player on the pitch. At his best he is dominating. Balotelli, in my opinion. More dangerous (including to his own team, manager, fans, himself). Seriously though, Balotelli can be a game-breaker. Higuain is a World Class poacher. It's like comparing Del Piero and Inzaghi for me (rate the talent as you will), too different but both extremely effective at what they do.
