Official: Matri joins Milan
Juventus have sold Alessandro Matri to Milan for approximately €11m, as confirmed by Milan Channel.
The deal had been in the works for some time, but negotiations stepped up a gear after the Rossoneri qualified for the Champions League group phase last night.
This evening Milan Channel celebrated the move by flashing this message: ‘Matri. Welcome back Alessandro.’
That’s because Matri grew up in the Milan youth academy, but was loaned out to several sides before his sale to Cagliari in July 2007 for €2.3m.It is believed the deal was done for €11m, slightly less than the €12m asking price.
The 29-year-old will undergo a medical on Friday.

I will miss him too
Hope he has a great time, but for obvious reasons I can't wish him 'all the best' playing for a dirct rival and all.
Thank you Matri

Well, I think it boils down to:zarola wrote:Dumb purchase by milan. Why would they even need him?
-Relieves pressure from Balotelli
-Allegri is a fan of him from their Cagliari connection
I actually think it will work out for Milan but I also think that there are better ways to spend 11M. I was a fan of Matri when he first arrived, was excited by the prospect of him joining while he was a Cagliari player. He flourished in the 4-4-2 with Del Neri, he flourished in a mediocre side with a mediocre approach to the game. Ever since Conte arrived you could see he was not in his element, the demands for a forward changed, the style of play changed, the approach changed and success came without Matri. Matri was important during Conte's Juventus, no one can deny this but he also left a lot to be desired up front. I'm surprised Juventus recuperated most of what was paid for him as a 29 year old striker who's best season was his half-season arrival onto Juventus' funeral (considering Conte's Juventus as the re-birth). Anyways, my criticism of Stone-feet is well-documented in this forum and I can't say I'm sad to see him go but I'm happy it is to a good team.
Best of luck to Matri, just not against Juventus

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
if another striker does not come i would like fot Quag to stay....
As for Matri, basically what Luca said, he can score a lot if he plays his poacher game, other than that he's Meh-tri.
what i dont understand is why milan spend 11mil on a striker when they clearly have other areas in need.

Maybe, I'm too cold, but I was never a fan. He was never Juve material for me. I wish him well, just not against us.

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
I disagree. We did not give Pogba enough playing time last year because our CM was too crowded and now you think we don't have enough players with just Giaccherini exiting?salmano9 wrote:We are short of CM trust me... vidal and marchisio gotta have some rest to play at the highest level in CL
I think that we will still potentially sign a LWB before the window closes. If we do, that gives us Pirlo, Pogba, Asamoah, Vidal, Marchisio, Padoin, Pepe, and any other player we may decide to keep for CM (Marrone or a younger player like Buoy). We do not need Nocerino. I would be very upset if we signed him. There is enough quality on the current squad to provide sufficient coverage.

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
I had a feeling this would happen. Very relieved Quags is likely staying, that man can perform wonders coming off the bench. Matri just never really fit well in this system of Conte where we perform lots of short , quick passes. He'll do way better at Milan with their system.

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
Quagliarella > Matri
At least Quags is good for the wonder goal every few games. He's a much better player than Matri coming off the bench. Matri has to start in order to be effective so we definitely kept the right striker as a 5th option.
As for Nocerino, he's pretty much useless to us. I'd rather have Padoin as a backup as he can play multiple positions. We don't need another CM as we have Asamoah and Padoin as backup and we have basically 4 starting midfielders at the moment with one of them (Pogba) that can play in an advanced role.
It looks like we have sold Marrone so there is room on the roster for another player. I predict a new signing on the weekend. Maybe a Giaccherini type player who can play different positions.

We NEED to go for a top player on the left. We've only spent about 3-4M in total this Summer after sales.

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
Pepe, padoin are not good enough at cm... I will only be satisfied if we signed a LWB so that we could deploy Asa in the CM... Only 5 players in our squad are capable of playing high quality CM, and that includes ASA...As for pepe, you and I, We know nothing about how he will be after his comeback...

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
Finaly he left...thanks for what you have done for Juve Matri but seriously im happy this guy finaly left.He was becoming a useless player and full-time bench warmer.Im happy that Quags may stay for another season or atleast until January. He is the best choice as backup, much better than Matri.
For other transfers i think we only need a good LWB to make a very solid team.If we can sell some mediocre players like Padoin or even Marrone and Isla and buy Nainggolan that would be a TOP transfer.

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
a bith harsh, but i agree.. Matri was my least favourite, i will remember him especially for that goal vs Milan when he beat thiago silva 1 on 1 and scored nice... But he gave my headaches with his misses and he was never good enough for us, inconsistent .. I trust Quagli much more than him against strong opponents(see Chelsea and Inter last year)juvealbanian wrote:Finaly he left...thanks for what you have done for Juve Matri but seriously im happy this guy finaly left.He was becoming a useless player and full-time bench warmer.Im happy that Quags may stay for another season or atleast until January. He is the best choice as backup, much better than Matri.

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
Yeah if we can get a Kolarov that would be perfect and then move Asamoah to the middle for adequate cover.Tomwin Lannister wrote:We NEED to go for a top player on the left. We've only spent about 3-4M in total this Summer after sales.
It doesn't look like we are going after Kolarov anymore, maybe the price is too high, so hopefully Marotta has his eye on someone else this weekend to take over that LWB role.

not sure how some people are feeling bad about this move tbh, 12m for a sh*t player like Matri is great news..... I expected to see things like this:
not people crying cos we sold a sh*t player for 12m...

Re: Official: Matri joins Milan
i personally think matri is a good player but just like everybody says 11 million of investment would have been gone elsewhere to improve our defense or midfield. plus we have pazzo back by oct.
good thing about deal is we are paying this in 4 installments. u guys bought matri from cagliari for 15 million right?
if matri turns out like inzaghi then thats bad for u guys...
