So its
1. Messi
..
..
..
..
2. Tevez
3. and others
@barrileco
there is 40+ difference, i think playing 1-2 games more will not affect that difference

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
That isn't normalizing. Less you play per same period, more energy you have per match. All that matters is the overall, seasonal output.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Unless those stats are normalized on a 90 minute basis all it means is that Messi played the most games

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
The overall stats just mean you play more. 2 players score a goal per 90 minutes. One of them gets injured halfway through the season. Player 1 finishes the season with twice the goals than player 2. Does that make him statistically superior? I don't think so.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
but you also gotta reward a player for staying fit while being able to play many games.
many people call it luck but idk the amount of times ronaldo and messi got injured combined has been ridiculously low compared to a average player

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
That is CL stats. All primadonnas played about same amount of games.
Messi and Tevez played 13 games. CR played 12 games if he played in final would be 13. and neymar played 12 games
I dont think in 1 game you can dribble 40 times and create 25 chances to reach messi's tally

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
It means that you are good enough to play more, or good enough to put more quality in the field than more fit players. If player plays 2 games every 3, he can rest the one game and put more in the 2 in relation than the player who plays all 3. Per game statistic is just as far from normalization, as is the overall output.BarrileteCosmico wrote:The overall stats just mean you play more. 2 players score a goal per 90 minutes. Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
He should keep his new penalty strategy.
Aim high and with power, goalies arent saving that. It went over the bar with the 2nd one, it can happen, but this strategy is alot better than his old one.
His old one of waiting to see what the goalie doesnt didnt and wouldnt work for him, for whatever reason if the goalie doesnt go early Messi cannot accurately put the ball out of his reach.
He obviously wont give up the pen duties so I hope he keeps this strategy up.

I agree
Also why he doesn't give FKs on the left side to Neymar is beyond me

Lionel Messi will be back playing in the "shortest possible time" according to Argentina doctor Donato Villani.
"For years I've known Leo and I have no doubt that he will be ready in the shortest possible time of the injury, perhaps before that period of six-to-eight weeks," Villani told Ole.

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
Dont know what to feel honestly.
The team isnt exactly in a good moment anyway, so its not like this injury is derailing anything.
Plus I think Suarez and Neymar are more than capable of leading the attack.
I think the biggest miss will be his deep passing. Its irreplaceable at this point.
Maybe we will defend better now though, as the right sided centermid doesnt have to burst a lung covering 2 positions.
Expect Busquets to perform better in the defensive phase and ball recoveries if he doesnt have to move so much and can read plays.

Messi, who is recovering from a knee ligament injury, won't be ready for the Liga game against Real Madrid in three weeks. [sport]

A pity. Time for our new best player, Sergi Roberto, to destroy Madrid.

Not gon happen. Benitez will make sure of it
We lost only by 2 goals against flying Real of Ancelotti while playing really bad. Defensive Benitez will be way easier to handle

Re: 'The Messiah' - Lionel Messi V.2
Cruyff wrote:"I often emphasize the poor basic technical skills of Dutch footballers when they pass or receive the ball, because it is essential when you want to play attacking football and you need to put pressure on your opponent", Johan Cruyff writes in his weekly column in De Telegraaf newspaper.
"To play attacking football, the defense has to be organised. The longer the teams are stretched out on pitch, the less pressure you can apply and the more space your opponent has. The less space you have, the more technical ability you need. Especially in passing and receiving the ball."
"When you look at defending, you can compare Messi and Ronaldo. Because of his height, Messi uses only half a metre to initiate a play or to have an effort on goal. Ronaldo is taller and he needs a metre to do this. The trick for the defender is to try to get within this metre of space. That way you defend the space and not the player. What I want to say is that players need to realise how to cope with space and positions."
"Ajax's El Ghazi is a player to my heart, a player who can create something out of nothing. But he also needs to learn when to try to outplay an opponent or when he needs to focus on teamplay. Sometimes you don't play your best game and there's nothing wrong with that as long as you acknowledge it."
"Messi did this in the final of the Champions League against Juventus. He felt that he wasn't playing his best match, so he focused on doing his work as a teamplayer. Even the best player in the world was playing for the team and not trying to play for himself."
"Finally, I would like to say once more how how much I am touched by all the support and how much strength it gives me in the battle against my illness. I said it to my wife: 'You see, people do like me.'"

Messi is running without big problems since a few days. Not yet ruled out for clasico, player won't take risks but is optimistic. [cope]

His presence is very important.even if he sits half match on bench and maybe starts in second half is more than ok. Traveling to boonabeau without messiah will be very tough on lads imo

Messi, who is recovering from a knee injury, will start running next week. He's expected to be back in three weeks. [sport]
Misleading reports... According to cope he's already been running for more than a week but sport claims he's yet to start running. Either way, he probably won't even make the bench for el clasico...

If God came on earth he would struggle to match this consistency :-

Nine years and counting in the top three of world football without so much as a shake is unheard of. More than half of that entire time he takes the Numero Uno position.
On Twitter people have starting calling him the best club player ever and it's hard to disagree with that.
