Buffon shrugs off Juventus’ defeat to Inter
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon insists that the Turin giants’ pre-season form should not be a matter of concern after his team lost to great rivals Inter.
The result against the Milanese club means that the Old Lady have won two and lost four of their games in the lead up to the new season, but Buffon still thinks that his side will competitive in time for the Italian Super Cup Final on August 18 which they will contest with Lazio.
Speaking to Juventus.com from the United States where the Bianconeri have been taking part in the Guinness International Champions Cup, the Italian international custodian shared his thoughts on his team’s early season form.
“The results of these games don’t worry me,” he said.
“I would have been more worried had we been brilliant…
“Had that been the case then it would have suggested that we would have had little energy during the rest of the season.
“Many of us have been training for just eight or nine days and playing an entire game, as some did, is tough because we’ve worked a great deal.
“We’ll now have the time to get over the exertion of our preparation and get ourselves ready for the first official games.”
Legendary Italy ‘keeper Buffon is now in his 13th season at Vinovo after signing from Parma in 2001 for €51 million.
