Because selling a fan favorite and a homegrown product is a direct insult to the fansdjfawnz wrote:oh you GL posters, answer me this, If Marchisio is really that bad and just riding the hype train, why wouldnt Juventus sell him?
Or better yet, how much do you think is Marchisio's worth?
So plz, dont be haters. Marchisio is one of the best CM, period. Just cuz he plays along Vidal and Pirlo doesnt mean he's shit!
And if Marchisio was to be sold, the majority of his price will be dictated by his sentimental value
Marchisio is one of the finest midfielders in Serie A, truly a one of a kind player. But a situation i have noticed that may prove hectic for Juventus. Pogba wants gametime, Marchisio wants gametime. Both are extremely talented midfielders and have been fantastic for Juve, though certainly one of these will guys will have to sit on the bench?
Pogba has said he wants to one day challenge for Ballon d'Or. Pogba won't except anything less than being one of the greats. Juve will try to hold on to him for a long, long time. But sooner or later one of these guys is going to be unhappy. It'll be hard to because you have a fan favorite and the icon of Turin, and on the other hand you have one of France's most talented young midfielders. No, not just France, but Europe.
As i said, sooner or later. It could be in 6 months or it could be in 5 years. Pogba will not settle for poverty substitutions, and we all know when Conte likes to sub his players. Maybe even the same could be said for Marchisio. I am not trying to get at anything, i am just saying that Juve will find themselves in a pickle in the future

With the league, CL, cup etc., there will be more than enough playing time for all.

Sharaawy, that was a fine unbiased post. But, apart that there is enough games for all to play, I think at most next year is Pirlo's last year at Juventus and his body wont let him play all games. Also, after Pirlo retires or leaves, i could see a Marchisio - Vidal - Pogba midfield for juventus.

Conte today said that Pogba can play in Pirlo's position and I think he'll rest Pirlo more than usual. plus there is always 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-1-2 as option. I am sure Conte will find a way even thou I agree and kudos for that postEl Shaarawy wrote:Because selling a fan favorite and a homegrown product is a direct insult to the fansdjfawnz wrote:oh you GL posters, answer me this, If Marchisio is really that bad and just riding the hype train, why wouldnt Juventus sell him?

It's not Marchisio OR Pogba, it's Marchisio and Pogba. The two can very much co-exist in the team. 4 quality midfielders for 3 spots in the starting 11 isn't a terrible thing, on the contrary it's beneficial for a team competing for three trophies.
Marchisio won't and shouldn't be sold, not now anyways. I do find the criticism against him well-founded though. Technically his skill set for a midfielder is supreme (apart from his finishing which is quite poor), but he does have a habit for disappearing in some games. He really needs to become a leader on the field.

Agreed
A 4th man getting into a 3 man midfield over 3 competitions is not an issue
If Marchisio could carry the MF instead of having the odd disappearances, he'd be a shoe-in the starting XI when Pirlo calls it quits. Although I'd personally like another DLP.

Aside from Veratti, I don't see anyone who can possible play Pirlo's role in the future. Even Veratti imo is more Xavi than Pirlo.

That's the thing. The players are the ones that decide everything, Conte won't find a Pirlo replacement (me think) and he'll be forced to adjust his system to suit the players that are currently at his disposal.M99 wrote:Aside from Veratti, I don't see anyone who can possible play Pirlo's role in the future. Marchisio is a fantastic footballer. When we played Juve last season him and Vucinic were the players I was most impressed by. It's a wonderful problem to have 4 midfielders of such great quality.
I would also agree it'll be hard to find a Pirlo replacement.

I think Pirlo's career depends on Italy's fortunes this WC and Juve's this CL. If he wins either of these trophies, h might retire next year. If not, I can see him retiring at the Euro's.

If we find a proper Pirlo replacement, I highly doubt it'll be a direct one. It may happen a few years down the line but currently there is nobody.
And like M99 said, Verratti is more like Xavi
Maybe the rumours are true and we'll try to pick up Alonso on a free as a filler until we either change our system or find a 'new Pirlo'

I'm sure i read that he will discontinue playing for Italy after the World Cup.Or are you referring to his club career here ?Lord Spencer wrote:I think Pirlo's career depends on Italy's fortunes this WC and Juve's this CL. I know about that Surag, but I can see a call for him back to the Euro's even if at 37. At least that is what I personally hope for

He would be so slow he might as well sit on a chair in the middle of the park for 90 minutes with a gatorade.

Lyon star Maxime Gonalons was consistently linked with Napoli, but his agent reveals he said no because he couldn’t “handle the competition.”
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder is captain of Olympique Lyonnais, although still felt Serie A and the Stadio San Paolo were too much for him.
“There are different parameters you must take into account,” agent Frederic Guerra told Papinade.com.
“Max felt fragile and not strong enough to handle the competition he would’ve faced with a transfer to Napoli.
“He has to continue his growth process in Ligue 1.”

Wtf, what sort of agent tells the Millions of football fans + potential future employers for his player, that his player is fragile and afraid of competition. He's screwing himself out of money.
"Hey guys, i'm Tom and i'm coming here to talk to you about my product. It's a type of shin pad.
It is oddly shaped, doesn't properly fit most people. It has to be put together manually and any collision with moderate force will cause it to fall apart. There is no guarantee.
Prices start at £35 per individual pad. You guys up for it?"

It's obviously the translation. He probably said that the player doesnt want competition for the starting spot because he's *insert a word that means young or still developing that can be google translated into fragile*

Still, coming out and saying he can't handle competition (Doesn't matter how else he put it) is just stupid. I...but.... the mans a pro agent... my 10 year old nephew would know it was wrong to point out a flaw in this situation.

well im not saying that the agent wouldnt be stupid if he said that indeed, im just assuming that this guy has the common sense of the average human being so the only plausible possibility here is that he was misquoted to a certain degree

Serie A teams' wage bills for this season :
So looks like we have the highest wage bill in Serie A this year.Milan seem to have significantly trimmed their wage bill from last year.

Btw,i have thoroughly compared Juventus' wage bill from last season and this season and there seems to be several small changes so much so that there is much doubt over the accuracy of these numbers. Some of it could be guesswork also or a lot of it perhaps.
