Instead of making a run for a counter attack Rooney comes towards Kagawa

Only one of RvP and Rooney on the pitch and we look more cohesive in the final third Greatest partnership ever though

Watch Moyes resort to starting Valencia, Young and Cleverley for the Liverpool match. Just watch.
BB what you said is a scary possibility. Perhaps he is resting them for the more important LFC match.
I swear if he does, he should get sacked before the match.
This is a good win, and we've actually scored more than 2 goals since God knows when. Lets' build on it.

Jones is one fearless defender. A Monster. Only negative for having that trait is that it causes him injuries.
But he literally always puts his body on the line.

lol with moyis yaa we never know.
But then again I hope moyes once in a while do behave like how normally humans behave (to at least save his job on this particular occasion) albeit the fact that he lives in a parallel universe where anything shit is rosy.

Good win. Let's build on and please Moyes, pick this team for the LFC match and stick with it from now until the end of the season.

Also, when Kagawa came on he didn't do anything amazing but him giving an option for the short forward pass helps the team. It's something small, but it stops us from shoving it out wide or hoofing it allowing us properly to build attacks through the center.

It did make a difference to our play, but for it to evolve, we will need to drop RVP, for the team to get used to it. There is no way Moyes will drop him when he is fit, even if it might benefit our gameplan.
This RVP-Rooney partnership is bordering plain comedy right now. Today was like the 4th consecutive game where they've passed to each other like once or twice. It's clearly not working.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I'd have a lot of respect for Moyes if he dropped/sold RvP. It would actually look like Moyes had an actual plan, rather than play all the best possible players ignoring how the team plays.
It's also a no brainier Kagawa is 24, while RvP is 30 and injury prone, he needs to look at the long-term.
Welbeck did well too, he's a very good back-up to Rooney (if RvP is sold).

yea and whenever they have played together kag and roo have looked in total sync in the past.
Its such a shame we are deprived of that incredible combo, which truly had the potential to develop into one of the finest if it wasnt reduced to a mere demo show all thanks to the joke.

I don't know what to think of RVPs situation really, I keep changing my mind. Obviously you want to keep as many world class players as possible, but I am 100% sure that we need to build our team around Mata in the #10 position. Whether that forces Rooney or RVP onto the bench, or one on the wing, is up to the manager, but both of them can't keep starting in the middle positions as we lose control. All 3 are world class players but mata in the middle helps us control games, pass it around more and provides loads more creativity through the middle. Same situation with Kagawa, albeit a lesser player.
IMO a lineup like:
Rooney/rvp
Kagawa mata januzaj
Looks miles better then rvp and Rooney up top and then mata on the wing. The 3 behind the lone striker move around and are all capable and willing go wide, through the middle or fall deeper to help pick the ball off the midfield.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I can just feel it. The feeling of being let down next week. We've been down this path so many times this season. So many false dawns. Remember our longest streak back in December, when we we went four games with a win, then we crashed back down to earth v a sh*t Spurs team at O.T.
I was actually positive about today's line up. Then BB mentioned that Young and Valencia could be getting as much rest as possible in preperation for the tough defensive/wing back role they will play v Liverpool. And since then, it starts to all make sense (not in those words).
Our season has been all about inconsistency, 1 step forwards 2 steps back.
I would begin to rate Moyes, and I would begin to be more supportive of him if he started today's line up against the tougher teams and get's a positive result as an outcome of it.

The thing is with Rooney and RvP is they don't even pass it to each other so the partnership is non-existent.
I'm also confused because Kagawa can play left for Japan and do it well, but for us, he struggles.
Look at this, from Kagawa's debut, he had instant chemistry with Rooney (also Welbeck).

If Moyes proves me wrong, I'd be happy. Saying that, there's still a long way back, too many false dawns this season.
Btw, all our games this season against Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City we've played at least one of Valencia or Young it seems inevitable

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
It's pretty obvious that Kagawa won't become like Silva or Mata, out wide. Both players started out as wingers in their younger ages, and Kagawa started out as an attacking midfielder at a younger age. This is definitely one of the reasons why he's not good at beating his marker and not good at dribbling past players. For this reason, he will be more system-dependent than anyone else because he doesn't have the experience playing different roles that Silva, Mata, Januzaj, Rosicky, Cazorla, etc. have.
At this point, it's best for him to play centrally as Moyes likes to overload the wide channels rather than play through the middle. Playing behind the striker like how Osman did for Moyes will be best for Kagawa, at this stage , with Rooney or RVP .
