we are bloody hopeless at creating chances without Rooney....RVP scores a ton of goals, but Rooney is the reason any chance is created in the first place...by far our most important player.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
That wasnt pretty at all. But we grinded out the win. Welbeck was the difference. He is on some form atm.
I just want to forget that match. These last 2 games have not been good for the heart. I wish we could kill teams off rather than sit back on what we have.
Considering we had no Rooney, a scrappy win was always going to suffice.
Spurs next now. Vital we win that too.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
We lost to Norwich last year, and our record against them away from home isn't that great. So considering no Rooney and Van Persie it was always going to be this type of game, and we pulled through it.
I also think Smalling should be our fifth choice RB, he's quite poor attacking wise, especially when it's pretty much now expected of a full back to provide more than just defend. It's not his fault he's just playing where the manager is telling him too, but I'd rather see Valencia, Jones and the Da Silva bros ahead of him.
Plus, we looked sooo much better at defending set pieces with Vidic back in the team today, he really helped organise us.
Finally, the good news is we've done our job and can be two points off Liverpool if they lose (considering Everton drop points too). Anyway, any result in Chelsea vs Liverpool helps us.

I never really thought we will win this at half time.
This and the Hull city match. Happy days are ahead pals
Good old Fergusenesque habits looks like have returned where we grind out results and get 3 points in the bag even when we dont play well.

It's funny how everyone saying we are shit based on today's game without regarding we had our two truly world class attackers missing. That's why we looked so unthreatening.
When I saw the line up before the match, I expected it wasn't going to be pretty. That our goal would have to come from some sort of luck, and thankfully, that's exactly what happened.

De GOAT is marvelous our second best player this season only after the sensational Rooney
Exactly, if anything it's a good sign, these type matches featured predominately in our previous title runs.

people seem to think we played champagne football under Ferguson all the time lol they see a few poor matches, we still win and they say "wait till you play a better team, won't be so lucky"
well we were "lucky" for 25+ years i guess because this is what won us countless titles winning while playing like crap

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
I can see the gradual improvements in the team, even if it's not too apparent. For instance, the biggest improvement I've noticed is the belief and confidence in the team is growing.
Everyone seems to be on the same level. Defending as a unit, harrying opposition players. It seems motivation is building up and the players are starting to respond to Moyes.
The one aspect that is costing us dearly though is sloppy mistakes. We are not conceding due to great play from opposition (apart from City), but due to individual errors. ie, poor marking, poor clearances, sloppy passing.
We slowly iron those mistakes, get key players back from injuries AND prevent any further injuries, then we will make a run and look like vintage United.
-----------
@ Bmac...exactly. Under SAF, we were accustomed to dross displays such as today and still winning. We had a ton of them last season.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Evra, Valencia and Smalling have been shocking in the 1st half.
We started out well, then faded as the time went on. Spurs' goal has drained some confidence from the players.
It's also frustrating that our only game plan is to pass, pass, pass to that useless scrub Valencia to aimlessly hit a 'hit and hope' cross- which never seems to find a player in red.
We have 45 mins to save our top 4 ambitions. I'm serious about that. We can not afford to drop any more points against rivals as all the teams above us keep gaining points continously.
Big, big 45 mins coming up.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
longer valencia stays on the pitch, greater the chances for spurs to emerge victorious it looks like. how come he is getting game after game when he is seriously under performing consistently I simply dont understand.
stats are getting worser by each day he is fielded in the line up.
12 crosses attempted
0 crosses reached its intended destination
Also Januzaj has been disappointing. His team work mainly woeful. Slight Over confidence may be?
Something is missing in our play. that cutting edge.Having said that we werent that bad overall in fact We were brilliant initially but gradually we faded away.
Lets live in hope then.

This team is too shit. Not top 4 quality at all. Fck Valencia too..I dislike that fcker. So useless.
Adnan, Rooney, Welbeck can raise their heads, the rest can go fck themselves.
Make the most of the CL this season fellas, we won't be there next season.
We can't beat top half teams and our home record is fcking shit. Not good enough.

scraping wins v shit bottom half teams, but as soon as we come up against a half decent team, we look like mugs.
We started to play once Spurs said' Job done'. And decided to back off. They could have scored more today if they were clinical enough.

Valencia plays shit continuously, he's worse than Young, he really is. Yet Moyes still plays him, he must be at some level of stupidity to play *bleep*' Valencia every game. Both goals have come because of the RB area surprise surprise. Fabio should just bloody start.
Evra is Lennon's bitch if Lennon scored his one on one and Soldado finished his tap-in it could've been 4-1.
SAF forgot one of the differences between him and Moyes is that he picks his line-up like a coward such a negative manager.

I'm more pissed off at that wasteman Valencia than the actual result. Because if this wasteman didn't start today, we wouldn't have lost.
Such a shame his suspension wasn't longer. Hopefully we can discard of him this January so we don't have to see his oily face again.

Re: Manchester United 2013/2014 Premier League Season (+ CC & FA Cup)
Frankly knew something like this is on the cards watching us play that last 10-15 mins of first half.
Hence abstained from watching the 2nd half. And it paid off.
Saved me from yet another heartache.
Once the opposition begins to play we are clueless.
Our game strategy and philosophy on the pitch under moyes highly is questionable. Its everything but emanating confidence.
If else How on earth Valencia is assuming the role of a play maker. The team is playing as if valencia is the fulcrum and everyone is revolving around him, every man on the pitch are passing/crossing to him and he is fecking them all up on a consistent basis. Dont they have any sort of common sense.
Moyes might be aware that we lack quality in the wings and yet he is adopting the wing play approach which is utterly baffling and shocking.
True we dont have a midfield either. But a midfield with rooney and carrick is like 500 times better than a wing with valencia and evra.
Why cant we adopt that hence.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

Lmao, so true. It's like they think Valenica is our Pirlo/Xavi from a RM position
What's so bad about this match, is that we played Spurs only a few weeks ago and Valenica was shit in that match too. I really don't see what Moyes sees.

This defeat is annoying. We were on a winning streak, climbing up the table and could have closed the gap on Everton and 3 points ahead of Spurs. Instead, we've allowed the Spuds to overlap us.
These spuds used to be our bitches, now they've beaten us twice in a row at OT.
2 steps forward, 1 step backward.

Rooney is out for more games, not surprised, didn't look himself at all today. Kagawa behind Welbeck, I guess. Not Hernandez, I love the guy, but during the Norwich game he always looked to run in behind, which requires an impossible pass. Sometimes, you need to play with your back to goal and hold up the ball bring others in. If Kagawa can't find his form then, Young won't be a bad option there, he's done it for England.
He really was
