I'd certainly take Gustavo for the offered price.
Also, with Hazard, Mata and Schurrle playing behind our CF, we don't need any more good looking players in our team.

I'll be shocked if Schurrle is a starter, tbh.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread - II
I think both Oscar and KDB are ahead of him for a starting spot, not to mention if Moses keeps up the form he's been in this preseason. Honestly I think we're gonna see ALOT of rotation in that 3 behind the striker. Mata, Hazard, Oscar, KDB, Schurrle, Moses, etc. That's a wealth of options.

Yeah, I think Mazarcar will be our starting trident this season.
Rotation will be welcomed and I really hope Mourinho does rotate them.

For £18m, I can understand the argument.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread - II
I honestly think Essien isn't as bad as we make him out to be. He's not pre 2010 Essien but he is a handy player. I think he'll play a pretty decent role in our season.
Also, 18m is only a problem if he flops, Which I don't think he will.
We paid 23m for Mata and that is a downright bargin imo. If Schurrle performs half as well as Mata does, I will be happy.

Essien is not bad, specially because he gets a lot of resting time with the rotation currently. But its still pre-season so... lets see.

I'm quite confident we're not crossing the 30M mark.

Reckon he'll join us in the end Shed? United doesn't seem to want to sell him at all

Re: Summer Transfer Thread - II
Idk. I really can't see United keeping an unhappy player (not to mention one who's missed their entire preseason) after all that's transpired, while at the same time I can't see them being too anxious to sell him to a Prem rival. It's a tough one.

You will. You're going to buy him for 40m in the end.(Which is overpaying obviously)

Wouldn't be entirely surprised to see this - or something very close to it - happen in the end, late into the transfer window. Which begs the question, if the club do end up willing to spend £40m or roundabout on Wayne Rooney, why wouldn't they have just put in £10m more and get Cavani?

Re: Summer Transfer Thread - II
This is exactly why I don't think they're going that high. I personally think if they ever so happen to cross £30M, it won't be more than £35M.Shed wrote:Surag wrote:Blue Barrett wrote:I'm quite confident we're not crossing the 30M mark.

Chelsea transfer target Wayne Rooney's Manchester United team-mates 'annoyed he's putting himself before the club':
Senior pros such as Giggs, Ferdinand and Evra said to be unhappy at the unsettling effect saga is having on the squad as a whole

Sources close to the Old Trafford club have explained there is an increasing antagonism towards the England striker, with senior players “unhappy” at his stance, which they see as a blatant attempt to strengthen his own position without any regard for the unsettling effect it is having on the team.

I think we'll end up getting him. And judging by the amount of shirt sales he has, I don't think 40m is overpaying by that much.

Re: Summer Transfer Thread - II
But it's not about whether he is or isn't worth 40m, it's whether the club is willing to pay that. If they're WILLING to fork out 40m for him, why wouldn't they just have chucked another 10 million quid onto that and got Cavani? Doesn't make any sense.
