Malaga about to sign Hierro
A couple of weeks ago Hierro quit his job as sporting director if the NT, he was rumored he would come back to madrid but it didnt happen.
According to El Economista, Sheik Al Thani is moving to make him a key person in Malaga Administration. On paper, he would replace former President Fernando Sanz, but it's not yet clear what his role will be within Malaga organization.
Al Thani is aiming to make Malaga one of the best club in Spain, and after a succesful signing campaign, still on going, he wants to make big signings in the offices as well. Julen Guerrero was confirmed president of the Cantera and Pellegrini was confirmed until 2015.
At least he is taking his time and seems to want to raise the status of the club overtime, not overnight. kudos to Malaga if it's confirmed.

I hope they can be like SuperDepor of late 90s or even better in La Liga. It's about time someone helped Madrid bring down the evil that is Barca.

If they can sign Pastore, it's going to be one of the best coup of the market.
A winning mentality at the club is just about as important as the quality of players.

Re: Malaga about to sign Hierro
I meant having someone like Hierro as Director, can be inspirational.
it's going to have to be a club attitude, not to respect the likes of sevilla, athletic, atletico, villarreal etc... at first.
I think they are planing to make strong signings overtime, so not to violate the FFP, and build a strong team with strong reputation in spain and europe.

Re: Malaga about to sign Hierro
Im starting to really dislike Malaga and I am most confused with how everyone is so pleased with them. Their spending is getting so prolific that they are more like a Spanish Man City now. I hope that they do well, and eventually along with other big teams in La Liga challenge the big 2, but this particular thing of Hierro for example had me quite shocked.

How is Malaga anything like Man CIty?
they signed
Mathijsen 3M
Van Nistelrooy free
Monreal 6M
Toulalan 11M
Buananotte 4M
Sergio Sanchez 3M
Joaquin 5M
That's 32M they spent on upgrading their squad and bringing in quality players to compete better for a chance in europe. That's the money City spent on Milner alone, and he isnt very good.
There is no wild spending here, so i hardly understand the comparison. They are ambituous, and they want HIerro to improve their image so they can appear as a more serious club as well, not just as a toy for their owner.
Now they are looking for a flagship signing, someone that can carry their brand.

Re: Malaga about to sign Hierro
They arent spending 200mil, but eight signings just till now isnt something a team like Malaga should be able to do. Hell, even we struggled to do that. I just dont like the way relegation battlers can be turned to a CL team just because of money and investment. But al-Thani is doing everything in the right way, so I guess I cant hate on them.
RVN is pretty much a flagship signing, dont you think? They wont be signing Sneijder any time soon, thats the closest they'll get.

Re: Malaga about to sign Hierro
I get what you mean, but on the other hand the CL teams are only there because of money and investment as well... Sure, at least a lot of those clubs earned that money, but tbh, clubs that had a decent string of luck in the 70s are probably still rich because of it...
