Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We signed him for €10 million so, no, that wouldn't be profit. And why sell him to sign Williams to take his place when Vermaelen is perfectly deserving of the chance to win his spot back?
Why shake up the chemistry of the club by selling your friggin' captain yet again?
What kind of message would that send, that we're willing to sell four captains in a row?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It's difficult to take the armband off a captain and have him stay at the club... especially since he didn't give it up himself. Maybe Wenger feels that there's an emotional hang up with Vermaelen that will hurt his career at Arsenal.
Sakho has the same problem at PSG. He's gone for sure if Carlo stays.

Tbf there's no way Wenger could have foreseen this drop in form and Vermaelen was the obvious choice (after Arteta who's clearly the natural leader) but since Verminator's been here four years and has already spoken of his desire to be captain one day...

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
According to Tuttomercatroweb,Arsenal are said to be tracking Parma's 22-year old striker,Nicola Sansone, with the idea of signing him this summer to bolster Arsenal's attack.
How about a double swoop for Belfodil and Sansone

The Daily Star says Wenger went to watch Dortmund at the Gunners’ training ground on Saturday, prior to their Champions League defeat by Bayern Munich at Wembley.
And £12m-rated Piszczek was the man Wenger had a close eye on.
The 27-year-old Poland international was a regular in the Dortmund team that did so well in Europe’s top club competition. But it has emerged Piszczek needs a hip operation this summer and it is feared he could be out of action for five months.

According to Daily Mirror,Arsenal are to be interested in 24-year old Stoke City midfielder,Steven N'Zonzi who can be signed for 12mio this summer.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
According to talkSPORT,Arsenal to be interested in 19-year old Levante winger Ruben Garcia.
Garcia who had his breakthrough season this year managed to score 4 and assist one in 28 outings this year.
__________________________________________________________________________________
Arsenal star Thomas Vermaelen is being lined up by Italian side Juventus, according to reports on the Daily Express website.
Vermaelen has endured a tough season, and was dropped by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after question marks were raised over his wavering performance levels.
He has been the subject of a summer move to Spanish giants Barcelona and Premier League Champions Manchester United, but it seems Juventus want to get in on the act and plan on taking the £15 million rated defender to Turin.
It is a surprise to see one of the best players at the Gunners seemingly on his way out after one bad season and they should not let him leave, as he is simply too good to let go and replace.
However, if they get an offer they simply cannot refuse then they may well decide to cash in.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal are mulling over a £15milion move for Manchester United winger Luis Nani, according to reports.
The Daily Star claims Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the Portuguese international, and is ready to swoop for the unsettled 26-year-old following Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.
Nani was unable to hold down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford last season, featuring just 21 times in all competitions. Indeed, his biggest moment in the Red Devils campaign was a controversial red card in the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Our desperate attempt to sign a defender/defensive midfielder has made me think as to why we didn't put a buy-back clause for this ex-Gunner?
He was touted be Arsenal's next big thing in the defence and yet somehow Arsenal managed to sell him without a buy-back clause
He has settled nicely in Gladbach, with some very good stats this season:30(1) starts, only 4 times this season, pass completion rate of 82.9 % and low rate of fouls committed (37).
And at 23,the best is yet to come from Havard Nordtveit. We have seriously missed out on this guy,IMO.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The rumours this summer have definitely reached new levels of dreadfulness.
Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
We should have seen the link with van der Weil coming from a mile off. People still think this guy is a good fullback and would be a good replacement for Sagna.
N'Zonzi... maybe three or four seasons ago, but he'd be a backup player at best if we signed him now.
We don't need Nani.

I was having a discussion with one of the old Juve guys yesterday about if they bought Trezeguet and Del Piero today what todays reaction would be and this was the reaction....
"DEL PIERO COULD BARELY MAKE IT IN PADOA, AND YOU'RE BUYING HIM!? LAWL. DAVID TREZEGUET? COULDN'T MAKE IT ON ARGENTINA'S TEAM SO HE HAD TO PLAY FOR FRANCE INSTEAD, NEVARWINANYTHING TRUST ME. MOGGI MA PERCHE??"
Your post about Henry reminded me of it and its so damn true lol.

Arsenal could be linked to the 1960 version of Pele and Arsenal fans would find something negative. Sure, he had a great World Cup in '58, but he's never really proven himself outside of Brazil. Or the 1970 Pele. Sure, he had a great career, but he's 30 now. He's past it!

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Marrone, Quagliarella for Jovetic
Juventus have reportedly tabled an offer of cash plus Luca Marrone and Fabio Quagliarella for Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic.
The Bianconeri are seen as back in the market for the €30m-rated Montenegrin forward and are currently in ‘informal talks’ to try and open up a deal.
Tuttosport allege that Juve have looked to start things off with an offer of co-ownership on Marrone, which carries a value of €5m, full ownership of Quagliarella, seen to be worth €12m and a cash payment of €5m, which could stretch as high as €7m.
Whilst La Viola are seen as reluctant to do business with Juventus, they are believed to be keen on Marrone, but would prefer to see Mauricio Isla or Alessandro Matri included in the trade, instead of Quagliarella.
Emanuele Giaccherini’s name is also floated as a possibility to enter into negotiations.

If we sign any one of VDW, Valdes, or motherfecking Nani, I am going to be very very upset. I don't rate any of them, and I downright despise the latter. I get disgusted every time we're linked with him
