As I remember it there was no guarantee it'd work. I wouldn't trust other people after everything they'd been through together. He'd probably be more of a psychopath if he'd not be affected by the things that had happened to him.
Have to replay it before 2 comes out.

Also, the operation was not a guarantee. You can't condemn a girl to death to save humanity, when humanity has been dead for decades.

No operation is a guarantee and we carry them out every single day. Of course you can try to save humanity, which has clearly not been dead for decades, as opposed to condemning it further.

At least they should’ve waited and done more testing before conducting an operation like that. You don’t use the only known person who could be a cure as test subject. It’s reckless use of the gift.
And also these zombie games, shows, movies etc always shows how humans are horrible. I don’t think there’s any chance the operation would work. Can’t wait to see how they continue in the sequel.

Game been out half a decade and there's a sequel with both characters. We know they ain't gone.

Joel doesn't even really do it for Ellie. He is selfish,
he does it for himself. He lied to Ellie twice (iirc)
about it. He kills an entire hospital of people working to save humanity to save a girl who may even want to sacrifice herself for it but he doesn't give her the truth or choice.

You're remembering wrong, the doctors say this is everything they hoped for and that they will definitely be able to get a vaccine out of it. This was presented as a 100% guarantee.
Re:RG
- Spoiler:
Because he chooses to save Ellie for entirely selfish reasons. She wants to go through with it, she wants her sacrifices to be worth something. He chose to save her because she is what keeps him going, to save himself. He betrayed her and then lied to her.
I wouldn't really have a problem with his actions at the end if Ellie was taken without her consent, but as Rincon said he went full psycho (and always was, presumably that's why his brother left him) and screwed everyone while doing it
Also did anyone else think that Ellie didn't really believe him at the end? It was left very ominously.

- Whenever they have a certain research or idea most people try to present as a 100% guarantee, it doesn't mean it is.
At the end if you remember there was a recording in the hospital they said there was 12 subjects like her all failed. Hence why at the end he said there were a dozen like her and they didn't find any cure.
- Spoiler:
- I'm a little late, but in the second one it seems Joel is dead and Ellie is avenging him or something, hence why its based off hate, or something to due with her mothers past.

I wish we had different characters. The story of Joel and Ellie is finished. There is no need to expand/change/alter it. It will have to be something truly extraordinary to work.
This is why it makes sense if Joel is dead.

is Beyond 2 souls good or comparable in any way to TLOU? I'm going to play it for the first time since it's free on PSN lol

It's a walking sim, where you make choices to advance the story.
It's nothing like TLOU and not very good.

Oh maybe I've mistaken it with some other game because I heard it's pretty good. I've looked up a couple minutes of gameplay and I feel like I won't like it though, well whatever it's free anyway lol

I agree that we need new characters however Joel and Ellie's story isn't finished at all, we need a continuation of it to know whether Joel survives and whether Ellie is resistant to the other bite that she suffers at the end of Left Behind.
I think it would make sense to make a follow up on that in a DLC at least if not in the main TLOU 2 game.

What other bite? Thats the only bite she has. Left Behind takes place before TLOU.

Oh shit you're right, I had a brainfart. We don't need a follow up then lol so there should be new characters in the second part. We'll see

Re: The Last of Us
Started it on Monday, finished it today.
One of the greatest games I have ever played. The story is extremely well-written and it's really not your typical 'zombie' game.
When it first came out, I didn't want to touch it because I thought it was just that - a typical, boring zombie game. But boy was I wrong!
Can't wait to play Part 2.
