He was amazing at the 2002 World Cup.

I think that moment must be one of Barca's fans greatest memory.

It was in the last minute of the game and without that goal, Barca fail to qualify for the CL.

I remember watching that game lol.

Wasn't just an overhead kick to get a draw to qualify for the CL but also a goal to get a hatrick lol.

Who is the closest Brasilian to his style nowadays? hmm

Nobody.

Not even close.

Yeah well, that's why I was tempted to ask the question (partially anyway). That if the answer was this, the follow-up question would be that how come Brasil haven't produced a player like him in 10 years?

Like him or of his quality?

Because I rarely see 2 different players who remind me of each other.

In terms of quality, its hard, in his day he was the best in the world. Cant just pluck them off a tree I guess.

Still puzzles me how underrated Rivaldo is to this day. Unlucky to play in one of the worst Barca eras of all time I guess. Plus THAT dive obviously didn't help ...

Didn't even remember it before you brought it up. Suddenly I'm not feeling that nostalgic  Neutral

That dive overshadowed his entire tournament. He was absolutely brilliant, on par with Ronaldo and Kahn.

Rivaldo is a legend! One of the best of this era. Hes longativity is admirable I think. A real professional and boss and one of my favourite and exciting player. I will never forget some of the games he played, I think he hit the cross bar 3 times vs Man U in a game or something. Beating Schmeichel twice from long range in a game if i recall correctly, just stunning player    I hope he stays in football and maybe become a manager Very Happy

This is a case of showing manager sometimes has little to do with the team being successful, but the players just good themselves Razz From winning the CL with Barca to failing with team in a much weaker league... so strange.

What were Barca doing before Rijkaard? I don't expect you to know the answer of that anyway since you were probably a Man Utd fan then.

Hannover 96's captain Steven Cherundolo hangs up his football boots effective immediately. Cherundolo, who earned 63 caps for the US national team, stayed with Hannover for 15 years and will now assume the role as assistant coach of Hannover's U23 team.

Dolo Sad

One of the best right-backs the States have produced along with Frankie Hejduk. Dolo is personally one of my favorite players as well. Always so consistent and leads from the back.

He shall be missed.
