Re: Sir Alex Ferguson retires as the Manchester United manager
All joking aside Fergie is a legendary manager, masses of respect to what he's done.
It's a sad day for football when he calls time on his career.

Didn't realize so many football fans are afraid of Fergie's managerial prowess.

Pulis likely to be leaving Stoke, could be a great opportunity for United

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson retires as the Manchester United manager
Fergie leaving or not won't make a difference, most of his managerial work is carried out by Mike Phelan. Besides, they will go for someone relatively obscure in the managerial world (Solskjaer or even Giggs perhaps) as a placeholder manager and Fergie will continue to enjoy some role at the club.
In my opinion, Man Utd is nothing but an unsophisticated version of Barcelona.
Mourinho to Man Utd would be brilliant though. Fans won't like him at first, he'll win some trophies in 2-3 years and then eventually leave. Beginning of the end...

I agree with this. It'll be a man u old boy who takes over. Or his current assistant.
Huge shock albeit inevitable.

Ooh Jack Black, let this happen!
Moyes to replace him and go insane after he sees his transfer kitty. He'll be found curled up between the seats somewhere in Old Trafford, going "so much money, money everywhere, I don't know how to spend that much, oh take it away, please take it away, oh please oh please oh please, oh Bill (Kenwright) I miss you so, please take me back, we'll just sign Stracqualursi on loan again and it'll all be good".

Mike Phelan to be named imo... Giggs will retire and become his bench coach. Continuity.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson retires as the Manchester United manager
It's not only the coaching ability they are losing with Fergie you know. SAF is considered a god in England. The amount of influence and power that man has would make even the Lannisters look like wimps. Whoever says United won't feel the effects is a lunatic.

I'm actually sad. The game has lost a legend and it will be worse off for it by a lot. Thank you SAF. You built a powerhouse all on your own.

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson retires as the Manchester United manager
Announcing his decision to retire, Sir Alex Ferguson said: "The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time. It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so.
"The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.
"Our training facilities are amongst the finest in global sport and our home Old Trafford is rightfully regarded as one of the leading venues in the world.
"Going forward, I am delighted to take on the roles of both Director and Ambassador for the club. With these activities, along with my many other interests, I am looking forward to the future."

I have mixed feelings about it. I wanted to see him witness City win more trophies

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson retires as the Manchester United manager
Great that he is going out on a high with a league win. The game will definitely miss him. But, as much as i know him, he will take up some role higher up in the hierarchy. He will work until it is no longer possible for him to do so.
On another note, as Mourinho becomes available, Fergie chooses to retire. I can already see the headlines "Mourinho : The Special Successor"

Its a terrible day for football . Alex Ferguson is an english football titan . He was the only person standing between the domination of the oil money clubs, and the others .

Re: Sir Alex Ferguson retires as the Manchester United manager
I absolutely detest his manipulating, vile ways but credit where its due, he won a hell of alot of trophies.
People will say Paisley won 3 european cups while Fergie won 2 but I think Alex is the best in English football history, no doubt.

I would actually take a moment to be serious and say the EPL will never be the same again. He is one of the greatest managers ever and will not be forgotten. Best of luck for the rest of your life Sir Alex.

I wanted us to win the league with him in the chair and Persie at OT. Feck. Now I am sad.
On another note, how do I reach Arq's place?
