Gareth Bale attempts to trademark heart-shaped goal celebration
Gareth Bale has filed an application with the Intellectual Property Office to trademark a logo featuring the heart-shaped hand gesture that he does after scoring goals.
It's an odd move, considering the fact that Bale was far from the first player to do it, but to distinguish his trademark request from any others who might have the same idea, he included his No. 11 in the center of the heart-shaped space between the two hands.

So... Is the only way to infringe on this to make the number 11 magically appear out of thin air between your fingers?

Re: Gareth Bale attempts to trademark heart-shaped goal celebration
it's for clothes branding and it's entirely reasonable... the number in the middle means that it has absolutely no effect on anyone making a heart shape with their hands
it looking creepy as shit is an entirely different matter though

If its for clothes then its reasonable. But at first I thought he was trying to trademark the hand gesture, Donald Trump trademarked his "you're fired" hand gesture were he pointed at people with his hands closed which I always thought was really silly.
But Im guessing if he saw some shirts or w/e at some spurs gift shops its probably only fair that he gets a cut because other people are actually profiting off of it

Funny how he is trying to develop a brand that has been used long before he decided to copy Pato, Di Maria, Anelka, Batistuta, Cassano etc.
Worst thing is its one of the most atrocious celebrations of this generation.

That awkward moment where people are crucifying something that will obviously make the boy money and start to establish a sense of brand equity around his name

tbf, it's a ridiculously, laughably retarded way of trying to make money, especially since he's not even the first person to use that celebration.schrutebucks wrote:That awkward moment where people are crucifying something that will obviously make the boy money and start to establish a sense of brand equity around his name

I didn't know there were any "retarded" ways of making money that don't involve law breaking.Lex wrote:tbf, it's a ridiculously, laughably retarded way of trying to make money, especially since he's not even the first person to use that celebration.schrutebucks wrote:That awkward moment where people are crucifying something that will obviously make the boy money and start to establish a sense of brand equity around his name

Re: Gareth Bale attempts to trademark heart-shaped goal celebration
it's a really petty move, especially from a high calibre football player playing at a top club. It's the kind of flim-flam I'd expect people who live on estates to pull

I don't understand the criticism at all. He's trying to trademark a logo. There is nothing wrong with that.
