He's really great when he takes off that Dark Red of United.

Yep What I love about him of cos is he never gets conned by the players drama and play acting He is always calm and in control, tries to keep the game flowing without incidents, although he does allow many things to get away, usually right decisions though.
In the end, compared with many big games nowadays where always sad to see decisions by ref, his games are the opposite.

Totally bottled the Hummels handball imo. He also let BVB get away with time wasting very early into the game.
Don't think he affected the final result though.

Not to mention he allowed Ramos to elbow Lewa in the face half a dozen times...
good performance overall though.

Bit pissed off with how much he allowed Weidenfeller to time waste, should have gave him a yellow card early to make him stop it
But agreed, Webb is fantastic as long as he isnt the referee for a Man Utd game

Yeh, good overall performance from him.
Would have to look at the bigger controversial calls in more detail to see if he made the wrong call, however not every ref is perfect.

This is a man's game. Lewa got baptised tonight.

Allows too much physical contact for my taste (see 2010 WC final), even today there were some tackles on both sides who would have easily been a yellow (the Bender foul on Ramos if I am not mistaken is one of them, also the countless elbows delivered by Ramos). But he is great at handling the pressure and overall had a good performance.

Re: Howie Webb: The big man for the big occasion
Webb favoring United specifically is a myth created by bitter fans of other EPL teams who have all been Fergie's bitches for the better part of the last 21 years
Webb may favor the home team sometimes, but as I posted yesterday there is statistical evidence that all refs are prone to influence by large home crowds

Re: Howie Webb: The big man for the big occasion
I think he was decent. Hummels handball? 50-50 to me. Definitely not a red though.
Also Ramos should have received a yellow very early. Big ups to Lewandowski for playing like a man though, if it was someone like Pedro he would have got Ramos sent off in the first ten minutes.

Almost certain that there is verified statistical evidence that Webb's calls toward United beat the trend, especially at Old Trafford.

There was no Hummel's handball. I saw the ball go towards Hummel's arm, though. As he was falling. With his arm underneath him to break the fall.

Re: Howie Webb: The big man for the big occasion
He's pretty harsh on United though, so I don't understand all this talk of him favouring us. Just watch the Utd-Chelsea game on Sunday (he's the ref) and see the amount of bad calls he gives us. I'll bet anyone here.
Anyways, I thought he had a bad game yesterday. He's a top ref, but yesterday he was far too lenient. Let Ramos get away with murder, missed a blatant handball and kinda caved in to the pressure of the home crowd at times.

Go play curling or something if you're not man enough for this game. Ramos was aggressive but getting a red card? lol I thought Germans loved the physical side of the game?
Huge kudos to Lewandowski, he took it like a man.

Re: Howie Webb: The big man for the big occasion
He did a great job this game. A few instances here and there but nothing really that important or of relevance.
I dislike however that Weidenfeller was wasting time (in the first 10 minutes) and didn't see a yellow until he dropped on top of the ball after the first goal.

Most English referees are out of shape compared to referees from the other big leagues. Webb, is in shape. That helps.
