Zanetti with achilles tendon injury

As much i don't like Inter, Zanetti is fenomenal player and it will be very sad to end his career like this. He won't be able to continue his style of play after injury but he deserve to play one or two more games next season and then end his career with dignity and respect from his fans.

It is now official – Javier Zanetti has snapped his left Achilles tendon and will be out of action for up to eight months, but insists “my career is not over.”

The Inter captain turns 40 in August, but that is not denting his confidence after today’s setback.

“My career is not over,” he declared outside the clinic where he underwent the tests.

“After such a long time, I needed a tyre change... I want to come back stronger than ever. It’s just a shame I can’t give a hand to my teammates, but I have faith we can reach a Europa League spot.

“Will Andrea Stramaccioni stay? That is up to the club. They want to make a stronger Inter and one that I’ll be playing in too. I thank all my colleagues for their kind words.”

Zanetti, 40, then went on to discuss his recovery process from a serious Achilles injury and revealed that he could make his comeback halfway through November.

"I've started running again – I missed that! I'm still training on my own but I'll have a test on Tuesday and if everything's okay I'll start upping the workload.

"I need to build up the calf muscle a bit. I'm not too far off returning: hopefully it will be around mid-November."
