Zanetti with achilles tendon injury

Reports confirming that Zanetti broke his achilles tendon. It takes 6-9 months to recover from that.

Extremely sad and unfortunate. I hope he comes back asap. He can't end his career like this.

His determination is from another planet and I think he wants to decide when to stop. It would be really sad if he did retire cause of this.

Zanetti has Achilles blood in him and just like the hero, his weak spot is his tendon !

Anyway, I wish him fast recovery. A true great of the game.

If he's 39 right now and his injury could take 9 months, that means he can play some months before he turns 40 next year.

Is is a full tear or partial? With full tear, you don't come back the same. You lose a step or two. At this point, he couldn't afford to lose a step or two. It's a min of 6 months recover too and usually takes 1 year to get it at full strength.

sad thing is it was in a nothing game where we have nothing to play for. young guys should have been used. guys who need games, not guys who've played almost every game

Very unfortunate, He's a player I respect.

Hopefully he can at least get half a season more under his belt before he calls it time out from football.

Inter are in trouble now, whenever I watch them he's the man who picks up the slack all over the pitch.

To think that this is the first major injury in his career is amazing ! you could almost feel the disturbance in the force. but don't worry, it wont end that way, the only suitable ending for Master Zanetti's career is playing in the next world cup.

1995-96 (39), 2000-01 (34), and 2005-06 (39)

He has made 45+ apps in 12/18 of his seasons with Inter
