Moutinho is 26 and James Rodriguez 21. You're always going to pay a lot more for young players as the Hazard, Modric, Lucas, etc transfer have shown. Ibra is now 30 and Silva turns 29 this summer.

wasn't Moutinho's fee pretty much agreed between Porto and Spurs last year before it hit other snags for 25 mil euros?

So J-Rod is valued at 45 mil? Laughing

I haven't watched Porto this season at all tbh, has Moutinho's performances been stellar? haven't heard anything about that..

I know clubs will always have to pay over the odds at times..but it's not like Monaco are nobodies, CL finalists less than 10 years ago..

70 mil combined seems ridiculous to me

Porto wanted 35 for Moutinho and Spurs were stuck at 25... that's why it fell through last year. Probably would have happened for 30.

Moutinho has been dominant this year and he's 26. He had 5 goals and 15 assists for Porto. James Rodriguez is 21 and a phenom imo. He had 11 goals and 10 assists. One's a CM like Modric (Moutinho) and the other is AM/RW (Rodriguez). Moutinho is know for his technique and pass while Rodriguez is blistering fast with great technique.

what ever their age is they are not worth combined 70 million.We are talking about Joa moutinho and james rodri not Neymar and Dani Alves.

Joa is valued at 25 mill. James Rodriguez 20 max (im being generous)... 70 million is a joke and Monaco is going the City way.

It's similar to PSG paying 40+ for Pastore... when you're a club who has no rep, you need to splash on the first few big transactions and then you can come back down to market once your rep goes up. City did this for several years though lol. We'll see if Monaco goes the City route or the PSG route.

Monaco is a club with no rep, how else could they make deals like this happen other than spending way over the bench mark? I think it makes sense. Imagine Valdes, Alves, Falcao, Moutnho, and Rodriguez? Thats a nice way to start off your spree imo

btw, with Flo's re-election coming up, I full expect him to go full balls out with the transfers just to try and save face for the disaster he brought on everyone giving Mou full power and it back firing. Quickest way to make Madrid fans forget, buy them bunch of presents

@Sports - How do you see this Monaco team building up? And their targets for the current year? (Based on what you are hearing in/from France - theres bound to be a lot more local buzz than what precipitates into the international media)

Also, what does it mean for the traditional Ligue 'big-teams'? (I mean the likes of Lyon, Marseille, etc.)

Moutinho and Rodriguez are new. Falcao is apparently a done deal and they're waiting for the season to end... remember that Falcao cannot go to England because of the 3rd party rule there.

Tevez wants to come to Monaco and the interest is mutual. If Tevez doesn't work out, they're also on Hulk. Valdes as a keeper.

Then you have french targets Nkoulou, Chedjou, Cabaye, Debuchy, Mandanda, Ruffier, Menez and Sakho. Some rumblings about Cabella too. Sagna if he doesn't get the offers he wants.

England won't allow for players to be owned by 3rd parties. For example, when Luiz went to Chelsea, Benfica had to purchase all his rights from the various 3rd parties that owned parts of him and then sell him to Chelsea.

Remember when Spurs were on Damiao in the winter? AVB came out and said there are 3rd party issues. This is what he was talking about.

Yeah. But FFP allows you 3 years to get your book straight. So they would prefer to invest heavy the first year and then even things out as time passes.

A tad harsh. Monaco were once a power within French football and have had some of the best players in the world play for them in previous years. They have quite a solid reputation, if I'm honest.

As for the Moutinho and James signings....... :bow:

I understand that, but they just promoted and don't the prestigue of the big clubs in the othe big leagues. Not that the club itself isn't of great rep, btu you get what I meant. Why would playes want to leave UCL football for a newly promoted club? You need money to make it happen, which they have. I'm personally very excited about the things they have planned.

Not sure I like the track around the pitch, besides that they have a nice stadium for sure
