Not to mention he is easily the best one on one defender in the Premier League.

Honestly, I can't think of any defender I would put ahead of him in the Premier League.

I like Vertonghen a lot. I remember speaking with ReO about how much both of us wanted him in Pool like 2/3 years ago. Sadly he went to Spurs, but the best thing he will always move to a better team eventually. Here's to hoping Madrid snatch him.

CL or not Levy won't let him go cheap. AVB won't want him gone either unless they can get a great price for him.

This wasn't even needed. Frank de Boer BEGGED Barcelona to buy him last season. Here is what he said:

"I hope he will leave for Barcelona. Of course, Tottenham is a great club for Jan, but I think he will fit perfect at Barca."

Yet Barcelona completely ignored this, didn't buy him for € 12 million, bought Alex Song for € 19 million, played him at centerback and realized that he can't actually play as a centerback. So now Barcelona desperately need a new centerback and not a single proper centerback is available on the market for less than € 25 million. Actually not a single proper centerback is available. Full stop.

He's not a speed merchant but he has enough recovery pace to make up for it.

I bet barca are kicking themselves for not going for him last summer. He is just what they need.

He's great though. I remember that goal he scored v utd when he waltzed past our players like a knife through butter to score.

Hard to do well when your partner at CB is Gallas. AVB made a mistake and should of played Caulker. Why play someone who is going to be gone come Summer? At least if Caulker has a bad game you can chalk it up to learning, but instead Gallas played bad and got injured and also forced Vertoghen to do more than needed causing him to have a bad game as well.

Overall this entire game was frustrating...

Gallas playing nowadays in excusable.

He singlehandedly has destroyed the Spurs back line several times this season. The only reason I can think of is AVB wants some experience or something. That shouldn't matter though as Caulker is heads and shoulders above Gallas in pure skill.
