Chiellini ruled out of Italy ties
Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini will take no part in Italy’s upcoming games against Brazil and Malta.
The stopper has been struggling with ankle issues this week which had placed him into doubt for the ties.
After monitoring his situation over the last two days, the decision has been taken by Azzurri doctors to send Chiellini back to his club.
Italy face Brazil in a friendly on Thursday, while they will travel to Malta for a World Cup qualifier next Tuesday.

I'm suprised that this isn't being talked about more. This doesn't seem good at all. I wonder if he will be back in time for CL.

Personally, I just see it as a precautionary move

I hope so, but the articles don't give a lot of details. That's what makes me a little nervous.

Well, he's coming off an ankle injury. It's normal for ankle soreness to persist even now that he's back playing. If I had to guess, he was probably just experiencing some soreness in his ankle and he and the team felt it wasn't worth risking it. Since he has come back to a whole mess of games, now going to the national team and training, it's difficult to stay at 100% during that.
That's just my guess though, I say it from personal experience from many ankle injuries, that's my perspective

I'd rather have him sitting out of a friendly (No matter how prestigious) and getting much needed recovery time for the games coming up than play him and have him lost for another 3 months. He's too vital to lose and i'm happy Prandelli isn't jumping the gun and playing him. Because as far as I can tell he's fit enough to play.
