Zeal that stat is very misleading considering how in Di Stefano's time they played a lot less games and against only champions.

Di Stefano was a beast and everyone knows this. His goal ratio was insane and I think only Puskas could say he had a better one.

1 behind Henry and 10 behind Ruud if you include preliminary round goals.

If you exclude them he's still 1 behind Henry and 7 behind Ruud which would make him top 5 all time.

Well yeah that is true, only Messi and Eusebio in the top 10 have a ratio of above 0.7 apart from Di Stefano.

Out of all CRs freekick goals from the left, how many went near-side corner?

I have admittedly done no empirical research here but I would be willing to bet the VAST majority

The risk of positioning yourself further to the far side is that the player will power it over the wall and dip it under the bar faster than you can react....Which is basically CR7s MO

The risk of positioning yourself further to the middle is that the player knocks a more lofted ball to the far corner that drops from above the crossbar and you don't even get a real chance to save it

Given that CR is the one taking the kick...Shouldn't you be overwhelmingly expecting option 1?

If it was someone with a more varied style like Pirlo I could see how the keeper has a conundrum about where to stand...But everyone knows CR is going for the up and over shot

*I will also fully admit that I have never been a goalkeeper, I'm just talking from a logic/reason perspective here, any GL keepers feel free to explain the rationale behind keeper positioning in a situation like this

Bhends....if the keeper positioned himself more centrally then Ronaldo would have an easy target to the right of the keeper with no wall to block it.

Also it is still quite difficult to get it over the wall like that. It is not like he does it every game. Look at how many he has missed this season.

You're not wrong but here's the thing if the keeper moves close to the center then Ronaldo can basically blast it straight at the goal. The shot will be on target and there is no guarantee that you'll be able to save it and even if you do there could be a rebound you'd have to deal with. Cris has scored FKs like that before, it's in his arsenal.

CR's up and over shot isn't exactly efficient, mostly because it's so hard to pull off. Iraizoz probably felt confident that he could trust his wall to do most of the work.

does any1 know how many free kicks juninho has scored so far? & ronaldo? i think that ronaldo has scored arround 44... & juninho scored 44 for lyon i think

i would wager hes scored less than 15 since joining madrid.

he was a freekick monster at united, at madrid he either blasts it into the wall or blasts it high. rarely goes in, unlike his days at united where he had a much better conversion rate.
