Heart of the Swarm

I've been waiting for a Starcraft cinematic like this for 15 years.

I just hope the story isn't as meh as Wings of Liberty or even disappointing like Diablo III.

If there is one thing Blizzard has always been the best at- it's cinematics. Holy sh*t that was good.

But gameplay >> and we'll see if the single player storyline can live up to BW, and if the multiplayer changes can usher in some much needed change.

Completed the game a while ago. Gotta love the overall structure of the zerg, but as a pro its really hard to win playing as a zerg, only Stephano and Nestea have figured them out so far.

Had a few concers with Hots tho, its easier than the original and the story sucked lol.

Story was passable, not the disaster that D3 ended up being but nowhere near the drama of SC/BW Animations, sounds, models and above all the cinematics were outstanding. The campaign however was ridiculously easy, and I feel that most of the blame lies on the fact that Blizzard wanted to reduce the amount of missions which could be boiled down to turtling + build-up forces and crush everything which is extremely hard to avoid in RTS games but Blizzard did their darndest to avoid that at the cost of difficulty. It doesn't help that you get some pretty broken unit upgrades along the way.

Overall the campaign felt more like it was trying to make you feel awesome as a player than challenging your mettle.

Who plays SC for the single player though?

I played SC 1 and BW religiously, yet never completed the campaign for either

I saw the Hots ending year before the game was released on youtube, maybe thats what spoiled but it was predictable anyway. Concerning the new units then only Locust stands out for me, others are meh. What made this game easier than the original was that it lacked a type of rush missions like the Wotl previously had. Panicked quite alot playing in hard/brutal difficulty.

Yeah more importantly how do you guys like the multiplayer? I'm looking forward to getting this as soon as the end of the school year comes around.

I only played Wings of Liberty online for a bit at a friends house, it was great.. Strategy games like these take a lot of time, time that I don't really have now in my life that's why I haven't purchased SC2

Btw, why release three separate games? Is the only difference the campaign? The first focused on Terran right, would it not give an advantage to Terran players since they can get used to that race through the campaign?

Ummm no...Despite the original contained only Terran campaign you were still eligiable to play as a zerg or toss. The factions are balanced despite people saying toss is the weakest out of the 3 until the late game. Basicly what Blizzard is doing is releasing campaign missions for each factions, the game still relatively same.

ok ok, they might be good for people that have already played the specific game, but for a new user i find it useless as it doesnt represent the real gameplay graphic wise as well as action wise.

although this game is a tactical strategy one but still, overall i find cinematics useless.

I'm guessing for money. I mean why does Blizzard continue to release sh*tty WoW expansions? Dat monneeyy.

The difference isn't only the campaign. Lots of multiplayer changes including new units and tweaks to balance. The campaign is different though too, with a whole new chapter focusing on the zerg this time.

Anyway, as for the third question, maybe a bit at first (and I do mean very slightly) but that's only at the lowest, lowest levels (bronze, silver maybe). After that the difference is negligible and at the highest level that's obviously not a factor at all.

Well the campaign introduced new units and gets you familiar with the race right.. Users of the other races would have to learn on the go online

ye game 6 was awesome, but biggest comeback for me has to be grubby duckdeok game 4.

i also watched america quarter finals yesterday and that girl surprised me so much with her macro skills.

I had no idea Scarlett was this good. When I stopped watching the SC2 scene closely she was still a girl and not a transgender and she was just getting a name for herself.
