Think he will make one push in the last week. Don't hold your breath though.
Thankgod Theo signed the contract. Wasted like 3 months of everyone's life

See, you and me are talking based on the Arsenal we have seen and knowing how Wenger operates. This is in alignment with the press conference responses from AW.
But the news of that 30mil bid is what is totally out of sync with this picture. I trust GeoffArsenal and Ashburton Grove enough to believe that a bid has been made, but the fact that everything has been so silent since? Without anyone, including the media, not having a whiff of whats happening?
Treacherous ground to put your trust in, but still

It might be what sam said. 30m smokescreen and we will get someone like Fellaini or Jovetic ( examples )
But all the rumors says it will be a striker. Won't be surprised if we try for Villa

Good god... 5 mil a year for Walcott!!!!! lol. That would have kept Nasri (much better player). Another mil and RVP would have been game too.
He makes as much as Ozil lol.

Na$ri is earning closer to 200k p/w iirc? He had his head turned after talking to Viera. No regrets with his sale to be honest.
Theo trumps Na$ri in commitment. Atleast, in a utopian world, I would like to think so.
Van Persie chose to abandon a ship he was captaining. Lets not decieve ourselves that money was not offered to him. AW gave him a 130k offer, more than Cesc earned when he left.

I think Arsenal have learned their lessons, dont give big contracts. Theo will sign will Liverpool in 2 years.
Theo is worth 100k, if he put on performances like Jack few times a month he may be worth it. I am glad its over with and now I can get back to my old self picking on him.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
He was a Liverpool fan as a boy but as long as we are still top 4 CL material, and Liverpool are still not sorted with their issues, I don't see this happening. Unless he has the little boy inside him.
Liverpool are in a transitional phase themselves. We are in a rebuilding phase.
However, in 18 months, I see us locked in negotiations with him over his new deal again. That is not to say he would jump ship then. It would be a question of where we are as a club and where he is as a player. Its too far away to think.
Best case scenario would dictate that we address the issues we have and return to a title-winning team with our 'British Core' ably complemented by foriegn players of top, top, top quality. Ideally, he would be much further along his journey of being Henry's second coming. I don't see him leaving the club in that scenario.
Worst case : We drop off the top 4 this year and struggle down that spiral further in the coming year. Wenger is sacked. Theo remains inconsistent and hits the ceiling of his potential for development. I see us cashing in for what we can scourge.

Ashley Young on 130k a week. Scott Sinclair on 130k a week. James Milner in 100+k a week. Walcott 100k is nothing.

Again, whos to say Sterling would be in Liverpool a couple of years hence? What if he realizes he can achieve much more if he left Merseyside? Or what if Liverpool find themselves in a situation like we found ourselves in with the likes of JET? Sterling is 17, and there is no saying what will happen with him in 2 years either.
Lets go back to being miserable waiting for Arsene to sign someone this transfer window.

Theo Walcott > Milner
Theo Walcott > Sinclair (for me)
Theo Walcott > Young (debatable, but Theo doesn't dive )

Meh.... there's no way he's worth it. He's not even a full time player until a month ago and he has been meh forever. Not one season where you have say he performed at a very good level mostly.
Think about this for a second. Only CR7, Kaka, Casillas and Benzema have higher wages on Real Madrid... and we tend to overpay our players. Now tell me how Walcott is worth more than Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo, Alonso, Di Maria, Ozil, Higuain, Modric and Coentrao.
Out of this world. But hey, it's not my money lol.

Well you have to think of what Walcott represents too. Another player in whom crazy amounts of time and resources were invested into developing. It's a morale boost to end the exodus of stars, whether you agree with labeling Walcott a star or not is beside the point. If he could keep this form going and keep improving which he can then this will be vindicated.

Can't compare different teams from different countries sports - even you know that. A whole load of BuLi players of much much better quality are on lower wages. Heck, Podolski and Cazorla earn lesser than that at Arsenal.
The comparison is with other Brit players in Brit clubs. Then, for his quality (which I will not deny despite the issues with consistency), he is not being over compensated here.
And without a doubt. Theo Walcott is the best finisher we have at this club. Where he misses out on is fluid movement and strength against imposing defenders.
This is a very crucial deal out of the paper for Arsenal, especially because it bucks the trend of influential players leaving the club. Theo, for all his faults and his limited appearances, is still the most effective player this season in terms of goals and assists.

Arsene Wenger is confident Abou Diaby can finally put his injury troubles behind him
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11670/8408103/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
------------------------------------
Wenger please stop it, you are a mad man if you think Diaby is done with injuries.
I wonder who he wants to sell now that he thinks Diaby will stay healthy.

I agree but if we had kept Flamini, Nasri, Cesc, Song, RVP, Walcott would have never be getting this kind of money.
I actually like Theo getting this kind of money it opens the door for others, so we can stop being a selling club.

But come on. Madrid have the 2nd highest wage bill in the world... second only to Barca. We should be on the list of clubs that overpay lol. See the list:

I don't know how Sky reported this. I read it on Arseblog on my way to work this morning. But I found nothing wrong with that one. IIRC, he said Judas had similar recurring injury troubles but at one point, he got past that and played 54-55 games since prolifically.
Diaby may have a poor chequered record, but if, and that one big IF, he does move past it then it solves a part of our midfield trouble.
I think we are sufficiently covered in the midfield. We have enough and more quality and numbers in there. We need balance, and that will come with playing players in positions suited best to them - a la FA Cup vs Swasea this week.
Say what you will, but Diaby is unique in his skill set and what he brings to the table. Viera-esque. I don't see any viable options to replace him with.

Re: The Official Arsenal Winter Transfers/Rumours Thread
The issue i have with it is that Walcott is not even one of the top 5 players for Arsenal... Cazorla, Podolski, Wilshere, Sagna and Arteta are all much better than him. Then you have a bunch of guys that can say that they're on par with him.
When you set this kind of precedent with a mediocre player on your club, you're asking for trouble. Wenger better be ready for a lot of guys to ask for raises or leave. You just broke your own rules. Now you have to live with it.
