Mourinho : ' I fear Juventus'
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has high hopes for Juventus in 2013. “They remind me of my Porto side and can win the Champions League.”
The Bianconeri were drawn against Celtic in the Second Round, while Real Madrid will face Manchester United.
“I’ll be honest, I don’t like Juventus because I fear them,” Mourinho told Tuttosport newspaper.
“I say they can win the Champions League. They represent an extremely compact collective, like an almost unsinkable vessel.
“It actually helps them that they lack a ‘top player.’ The fact you don’t see a Juve man at the top of the scorers’ charts just means a goal can come from anywhere. It doesn’t matter if they don’t have a Karim Benzema or Gonzalo Higuain when they are so well-structured.
“This Juve really reminds me of my Porto side in 2004. If someone had forgotten, let me remind them that Porto won the Champions League that year.”
Mou won The Treble with Inter and is now targeting another historic achievement.
“I have declared my objective is to win the Champions League with three different clubs. Nobody has ever managed that before. It would also be the 10th European Cup for Real Madrid, the first side to reach double figures.”
Yet Mourinho has been under pressure in Spain with talks of a potential sacking after falling behind Barcelona in La Liga and benching captain Iker Casillas.
“I reply with a quote from Sir Alex Ferguson: ‘I am too old to retire.’ And, if you’ll allow me this addition, I am also too ‘young’ to retire.”

Re: Mourinho : ' I fear Juventus'
This was discussed in the chat, and I stand by what I said earlier: Madrid will most likely beat Juventus if they meet.
Yes, Madrid's league form is terrible at the moment, but it's known that the Champions League is their main objective, so they'll be putting much more effort there than in the league, which may prove too much for Juve.
If they do meet, I expect a tough game, but Madrid will pull through on acount of their greater individual ability. Expect some Ronaldo piece of magic to end it.
That doesn't mean Juve don't have a chance. They may very well beat Madrid on their day.

A lot of top teams have lost to teams they shouldn't be losing too, yet they're still favourites for the CL. Yeh Real Madrid have lost to Celta Vigo etc, but Man Utd for example have lost to Norwich. They only just beat Newcastle the other day, game could of gone either way.

Re: Mourinho : ' I fear Juventus'
Dude united still manage to beat their opponents even if a lot of them are last minute victories. We actually struggle to create chances in open play against relegation fodder , and the lesser said about our defence the better. Forget Juve , I am not sure about our copa progression against celta in the second leg

I agree with him. Juve look a really strong team in the CL. Very hard to beat. If they avoid Barca or BD, they can make the CL final for sure.

Re: Mourinho : ' I fear Juventus'
Deco wasnt a top player for his Porto side? Okay then.
Anyway, I think I agree Juve not having a star might be a good thing. They have a good thing going, the wrong kind of player might disrupt that.
Still need an upgrade in the forward position one way or another though.

Think he meant a top game changing attacker like a Benzema or a Ronaldo.

Well he said top player, not top striker so I dont know. If he meant player, then he is wrong..if he meant forward then he is right.

Re: Mourinho : ' I fear Juventus'
I'm sure he acknowledges the fact that Pirlo ,Vidal and Marchisio are all top players so i think he clearly meant top player in attack.
In Italy they have the habit of referring to a WC attacker as 'Top player' as well.

Oh RWO
When you have such a man who prefers to play a rotting 25 year old Adan over Iker Casillas for reasons out of "form" then you can't exactly be disappointed with Mourinho for his judgement on top players lol.

Now this is hating for no reason
I'm sure those Tuttosport journos asked him if Juve 'missed a top player' as in a top quality striker and the comments mentioned in the OP was his response..Cant see what wrong he said tbh or got anything to do with his judgement on 'top players'.

Re: Mourinho : ' I fear Juventus'
I don't want to get into some big "Which club ranks where" type of debate but I do find it a tad annoying when people (Not always on this forum) bring up the fact Juve have been away from Europe for a while to justify Juve being overrated but in the same breath they get on the Dortmund Hype and hype them as some sort of CL favourite.
But whatever, in a 2 legged tie you can't really count out any of the top teams in the CL. League form isn't going to stop RM from turning up and hitting form.
