Who will Demba Ba join?
Who will Demba Ba join in January?
The media seem to think we are selling him in the first week of January ( including the BBC)
The front runners are apparently Liverpool and Arsenal but you never know someone else could join the race.
So who will he join?

Except Ba has a 7.5m release clause in his contract so we won't get anywhere near as much for him and hopefully we actually replace him in the same window this time

Am sure it was widely reported that his clause expired in October or something, what happened to that

Nah his entourage are renewing it for this window....
Basically we can't agree a new contract with him and his people so instead of risking him going at the end of the window with the clause and what not....
We plan to sell him early and get his replacement in asap ( rumoured to be Remy) a long with all the other targets we have for January.

He certainly knows where the goal is, but he's very one-dimensional.
Any team that fancies him would need to make their whole system tick around him and I don't know if we are that team. Frankly, I'd much rather have Carroll back than go for Ba.

You don't want the top scorer behind Rooney and RVP in the league since January 2011?

I'm sure Liverpool and Arsenal can do better. I think he'll end up staying at Newcastle.

Unless they get Rooney or RVP i find that unlikely.....
Find it funny how Ba is treated as some average striker when only Rooney and RVP have scored more over last 2 years than Ba has....

i think it would make more sense for him to go to liverpool but i chose arsenal, i think he will be more tempted to go there, and from what i read arsenal and their fans would be happy with this.

I think Ba is a bit Darren Bent-y
Not sure he belongs in a club with CL aspirations, definitely capable of scoring goals for other sides though

You could argue the same about Cisse tbf.... and when i speak to you in chat lol you don't sound like you would mind him at Inter lol.
I bet people said the same about Falcao or Milito etc etc too.... not saying he's anywhere near them but he's a 1 in 2 goal scorer through out his career, i think he would score goals where ever he went tbh.
I think he's a bit underrated on here imo.
Also correct me if i'm wrong but... CL aspirations? wasn't we in the top 4 till christmas last season? and wasn't we 4th with 4 games to go last season and still had a mathematical chance of 3rd and 4th on the final day?
Or did i dream it all?

I would take him if we dont sign another striker, nothing against Ba I like him and I know he is a good scorer. I also dont know if he would fit our system?

Re: Who will Demba Ba join in January?
Ba would definitely fit into our system. It's not like he's technically inept and he can do other things than just goalscoring.
Even then, his record speaks for itself and comparing him to Bent isn't doing him justice. The quality of some of Ba's goals - volleys, headers, shots from outside the area, curlers into the top corner, etc - are a level above your average poacher.
The price is also smaller than you'd expect. Wages and agent fees aside, £7,500,000 for someone like Ba is a very good deal.
Really, the only issue with Ba is his apparent dodgy knee, but then, has that even been a problem during his time with Newcastle?
He's certainly not on Falcao's or Cavani's level, but for a club with aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League he's definitely good enough.

Re: Who will Demba Ba join in January?
definitely one of the best strikers in EPL... I watched him last season and he looked dangerous from every place around the box, he looked like he can shot on target even when marked and with the back to opponent's goalie ... He's very good physically, can score in every possible way: heading, volleys, simple finishing, long shots... He's very hard to mark, his close ball control and use of body length allows him to win 1 vs s 1 duels in the box...
7 million for Demba Ba it's a joke really... This is not an average player. Watch some Newcastle games before rating him, he's a very good quality striker...

There's actually a story behind that.... when we got him on a free we planned to use him for a year then sell him on but we didn't expect him to have this much success....otherwise i don't think we would have agreed to the clause in his contract.
Now we look like idiots after a gamble not paying off

For us, It'll be either him and Darren.
Andy Johnson is out until April, Zamora is a donkey, and Cisse is very inconsistent.
Either Ba or Bent. Both available for under 9M, and I am sure Tony will agree.

I see.. It'll be hard for you now to find a replacement for him if he lefts in this money range.. Sell him to your Bianconeri brothers, instead of EPL rivals

Re: Who will Demba Ba join in January?
It's really not a case of us selling him.... it's a release clause anyone that meets that clause and gives him the wages him and his agents want will most likely get him.
As far as Juve go he's not the marquee signing some fans may want but he's probably a better CF than what you have currently. ( if we consider Vucinic a SS that is)

Re: Who will Demba Ba join in January?
I can't personally see LFC pursuing him. Suarez is our central attacker and given his form in the first half of the season will remain so, by any logic. Ba won't want to accept a bench role and LFC won't be willing to meet his demands if he's coming in as back-up to Suarez in the central striking role. Our targets will be players who play in a wide striker role. While Ba CAN fill such a position he's worse than our other targets there and complains MORE than them when played there. Add his age to that and a move to LFC seems very unlikely.
QPR are after Robbie Keane, and we all know he'd love to play for his boyhood club QPR.
