Re: Chelsea sack RDM
This club is a f**king joke.
No idea why but this doesn't hit me nearly as hard as when Jose or even AVB was sacked. Fully expected this to happen.
He never had a chance.

Barret, you do not want to be in the GS right now. Trust me it'll only aggravate you even more.

Already?
I predicted he wouldn't last anyway, but this is too soon. He should have been given more time. At least until January or so.

Lol at the morons on twitter failing to acknowledge our owner is a control freak. Apparently it's Torres fault we have 12 managers or whatever in 9 years.

If Di Matteo is replaced by a high calibre manager, then maybe this decision will be a good one in the long term. However, a new manager will want to add his own players to the squad, which is something that can't be easily achieved in January. It makes more sense to me for Di Matteo to be given a season at least and then, if he hasn't done well, replace him. Not to mention that their squad seemed united under Di Matteo.
Managers no longer have a say in transfer dealings anymore.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Why are people opposed to Benitez by the way?
He's a boring c**t but he's never had a stacked team before.
He easily wins the League in 08/09 if Torres doesn't miss half the season, right place at the wrong time at Inter.
Personally I'd make John Terry player-manager. Time after time again we go to s**t when he's out injured. Have a feeling RDM would still be manager if not for JT's injury.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Also, sacking RDM is like an admission from the Club's board that winning the CL last season was due to luck, not good performance from the team or his manager.
Everyone knew that, but it's kinda sad that their own board admits it.

Apart from the fact that his tactics are shit, he can't keep his mouth shut and he can't handle pressure.....hmmmm.....let's see.....Gil wrote:Why are people opposed to Benitez by the way?

How about the numerous times he has insulted Chelsea in the past? He has even taken cheap swipes at Chelsea fans on occasion. Yeah we're going to LOVE him as our manager won't we? Unbelievable....

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Midfield is a huge issue obviously..I'm still waiting when Oscar is going to play at CM btw
Centre back pairing is not good enough at this point.
Also being stacked in attack doesnt mean much actually.PSG have a wealth of attacking talent but their glaring problems in midfield and defense is there to see.
Said it earlier in the summer as well,Chelsea should've bought in someone like Javi Martinez in who had have given the drive to your current uninspiring midfield but instead of a bunch of wingers and AM's were bought with a view to play 'sexy football' under a defense oriented coach.

nah. when another team beats you in an important competition you can't accept defeat and have to say they got lucky. it's happened time and time again
that's something everyone knows

Being 5 cm. away from qualifying = embarassed? Nice joke dude.
Also, I'm obviously not talking only about how lucky you were vs. Barça, but vs. every team, from Benfica to Bayern and also Napoli. Chelsea's last CL was a luckfest.

Not really, I haven't seen any Man United fan say we beat them byluck in Roma and London.
People say it's down to luck when it could have gone either way. And Chelsea could have gone either way in each of their knockout stages in the CL.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Di Matteo does not have the reputation with Roman that can back him when his team goes through a slump in form. You would think that winning the CL would be enough to give him that stature. But, this is clear indication that Roman was not impressed by Di Matteo's CL win and probably credits the players solely for it.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
This is why I can never find myself rooting for Chelsea in neutral matches, because there is literally no stability in their club. While I would love to manage a club with their resources, heaven forbid they stick with a manager for more than 1 season. I really liked RDM and thought he would of turned it around had they made it to the transfer window and jettisoned Torres and Sturridge and found more depth in their back line.
After the way they started the season you would think he would of bought himself at least 1 slump. Did Roman really think they would make it far in the CL after completely re-making the team?

How was Benfica luck? Someone please tell me. What? You didn't think we could beat Benfica?free_cat wrote:andiii wrote:free_cat wrote:Also, sacking RDM is like an admission from the Club's board that winning the CL last season was due to luck, not good performance from the team or his manager.

And there's no need to tut about Barca being luck. We were down to 10 men and you were in your own backyard. If you couldn't take advantage of that, how is it our fault?
As for Bayern, are we the FIRST EVER team to win a competition on penalties? Christ!

No, that's because we beated Man U by a landlside and there was no way anyone could claim it was down to luck, otherwise not only Man U fans but sad and bitter fans like you would also be claiming it was down to luck.
Same way we were knocked out by Liverpool or Man Utd in 06/07 and 07/08 and we didn't claim it was luck. It was a clear defeat and fair and square.
