This stinks of kneejerk though. This is still a Chelsea side in relatively good shape physically, but just going through poor form. Last thing that should be done is take away the coach that got them to where they are.
Citeh have to be favorites to win this weekend now.
Oh and I think Steve Clarke should be at the top of their list.
Spot.on as usual Mclewis. I already lost my respect for Abramovic when he harshly sacked Ancelotti "on the stairs through an assistant" despite a solid season. Its quite obvious he wasn't fond of keeping RDM from the start yet succumbed to the Post CL pressure. We all know that he wants a world renowned manager yet we also know its an endless cycle petulant decisions from him.
Also resonate those thoughts about Steve Clark. To this DAY I rue him leaving Liverpool (out of loyalty to Kenny). Now what? He has been the best manager in the EPL with an average squad as it was criminal to how Liverpool didn't even try to have him as our manager. If you know Abra he won't want a smaller name compared to the Guardiola's, Capello's etc. But what they can have in their hands is a man who would immediately endear and recognize to the club and its fans along with a strong potential to bring the best out of this demoralized side.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Didn't want to post in this thread but here goes:
I am absolutely shocked at this decision. Disgusted! Disappointed! Or maybe not disappointed as I've come to expect brain dead decisions from the club in any way shape or form EVERY season since 2001.
This reeks of utter impatience and hypocrisy. It only shows that they never wanted him in the first place. It shows that they only appointed him to please the fans. That's 2 managers sacked in one calender year. Bravo Roman! Bravo! Isn't that just cute?
Did they expect this side in transition to win the league straight away with the inexperienced players we've brought in? Did they expect him to make the team score a million goals with NO STRIKER??? Or wasn't it their decision not to bring in any striker over the summer? Did they expect everything to be roses? Wow! I feel bad for RDM. He's gonna get good offers, that's for sure.
Its not even 4 months into the season ffs. I don't even.........why would you......how is it even.........

Hahahahahha wow, this sh*t happens faster than on Football Manager.
Drop to 3rd in the league, lose to Italian Champions = sack?
Why exactly does Uncle Roman think that his club should win every game at every stage in the season in ALL competitions?

You can't blame Abra, whenever he's sacked a manager Chelsea seem to end up having a good season.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Thing is, Chelsea are still having a relatively good season. They are still in a position to qualify for the CL (some would say are favorites to, given Juve's task at Shakhtar) and they are by no means far off the pace from Citeh and United in the PL.
So yeah, Chelsea are in a bit of poor form at the moment, but both better and worse team have been in the same situation and yet they still have the coaches they started their season with. Like I said, this a super kneejerk from Abramovich.

Re: Chelsea sack RDM
Di Matteo was always a stop-gap for whoever Abramovich who had in mind to be Chelsea manager. The two year contract he was given suggests that.
But even then, to be given only a short amount of time to prove himself is just illogical to me. Di Matteo is trying to make Chelsea play a new style and they spent a lot of money getting players like Hazard and Oscar in order to help them achieve that. It's something that needs time to happen. Chelsea are still in touch with the City and United and there's a good chance they'll qualify from their Champions League group. Recent bad results aside, they aren't having a bad season by any means.
If Di Matteo is replaced by a high calibre manager, then maybe this decision will be a good one in the long term. However, a new manager will want to add his own players to the squad, which is something that can't be easily achieved in January. It makes more sense to me for Di Matteo to be given a season at least and then, if he hasn't done well, replace him. Not to mention that their squad seemed united under Di Matteo.
Seeing a manager get dismissed as ruthlessly as this doesn't really sit well with me.

This club is a f**king joke.
No idea why but this doesn't hit me nearly as hard as when Jose or even AVB was sacked. Fully expected this to happen.
He never had a chance.
