Re: The Bundesliga Thread
It's just half-time in the Friday match, the "Rhine Derby" between Köln and M'gladbach. As expected for a derby, the Rhein-Energie-Stadion is sold out with 50 000 people in it.
HT: 1.FC Köln 0:2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
0:1 (20., Hanke, assist by Herrmann)
0:2 (30., Arango, direct FK)
In the 34th minute, Podolski was denied by ter Stegen. ^^

Arangod is seriously in beast form right now, he's one of the best FK takers around. The Venezuelan NT are so frakked without him
Currently 3-0, another one from Hanke.
Poor Podolski, but he's a forgiving God. Title race, onnnnnn!

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
The second half, besides these last 10-15 minutes, was honestly the worst I have ever seen Koln play. Geromel is a shadow of what he used to be, Eichner had an off game, Brecko and McKenna are always liabilities. Matuschyk and Riether were invisible, Clemens was seemingly scared to run at his defenders, Jajalo was totally shut down, Podolski was totally isolated and kept being offside because of passes beingplayed waytoo late. What a joke we were today. We really beat ourself. This game was Pezzoni, Roshi, and Podolski versus Monchengladbach. Brecko did decent going forward, and Jajalo and Riether had flashes but otherwise we played like complete shit. I couldnt believe the simple passes we would somehow *bleep* up today. Man im pissed.

Reus in decline. After three matches where he scored twice each, this match he hasn't managed to score.

Full time: Köln 0:3 M'Gladbach. Mönchengladbach stays the "bestia negra" of Köln and wins again.
For now, Bayern is sandwiched between two Borussias:

If Gladbach is keeping this run until the end of the season, they could be serious contenders for the title. They playing some amazing football this year.
Would this be Gladbachs first CL-run?

CL in the current form, yes. But they won the UEFA Cup in 1975 and 1979 and the European Cup in 1977. They were actually 5-times German champions, too (in 1970, 1971, 1975, 1976, and 1977)ImAbackBone wrote:If Gladbach is keeping this run until the end of the season, they could be serious contenders for the title. I was aware of their somewhat glorious past...
Wimmer, Vogts, Heynkes, Netzer, Bohnhoff, Effenberg are all familiar names in my ear
I wasn't shure about UCL, though.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
I think it would be cool if they regain their standing in the BL. They got the nickname "die Fohlen" (the foals/colts) for playing positive, attacking football with a squad of youngsters in the 70es. Right now they have a fresh squad of youngsters, so I hope for the best. And ter Stegen is just amazing. I hope he'll get a call up to the senior NT soon.

I hear you!
All German clubs I want to see in Europe are in almost perfect alignment with my season-end-dream-table.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Actually, I would prefer to see Bayern as 4th - they stand the best chance to get through the qualification unscathed
BTW, I'd prefer Bayer Leverkusen as 6th instead of Stuttgart. IMO, Bayer likely would stand a better chance to go through than the Swabians.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Leverkusen only have the drawback that they never win stuff. They come up as runners up at best. So better let Dortmund (who actually won the CL once) and Schalke (who won the UEFA cup against all odds with their Eurofighters) and M'gladbach (who have three European cups to their name) go in front together with Bayern I bet next season Dortmund will be a force to reckon with in Europe.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Dortmund?
They was humilated by Marseille and Olympiacos..
Too much for German Champs?
Too bad, I had some hope about Jurgen Klopp.. and now he became a joke of a manager, who only prepare for two games/season (Bayern home, and Bayern away).

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
Dortmund were mainly undone through individual mistakes and lack of firepower in the CL. Kloppo is actually a really good manager, and next season his players have gained quite some experience. After all, last season he proved that it is possible to win stuff with kids. And frankly, against Arsenal, Dortmund played actually pretty good until Bender and Götze were injured. Oh, and you probably should remember that Dortmund didn't buy any players for more than 5 mio Euros as their budget is tiny compared to the big boys in Europe.

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
So, I'm guessing our UEFA Cup victory against Espanyol after being buried 3-0 in the first leg dosen't count as "against all odds."rwo power wrote:Leverkusen only have the drawback that they never win stuff. Oops, they really won something? That's what I get for not verifying stuff first But then, Leverkusen is most famous for the 2002 runner-up triple

I call bullshit!
It's more the case of horrendous bad luck at times and lack of experience. (no wonder with this kindergarten)

Well, at least Bayer did good shopping and snatched Philipp Wollscheid for the next season before Bayern and Dortmund could get him.Geo wrote:Btw, Leverkusen won the 1993 DFB-Pokal as well against the second team of Hertha BSC

Re: The Bundesliga Thread
BTW, Revierderby result:
Borussia Dortmund 2:0 Schalke
1:0 (16., Lewandowski)
2:0 (61., Felipe Santana)
And RW Oberhausen managed a scoreless draw in Regensburg (who currently stand as 2nd in the 3rd Bundesliga). Regensburg's Schweinsteiger (top scorer of the 3rd BL) missed a penalty big time (I think he must have tried to shoot at the Moon )

Ouch. I just heard that Marco Reus played with a broken toe in the Rheinderby against Köln. Though he was supposed to be subbed off, he said that the match was so much fun that he decided to play till the end despite the pain.
