Carlos Slim ready to invest big in a Spanish club
The Mexican business magnate who is currently ranked as the richest person in the world is ready to invest big in a Spanish club!
Who could it be? Atletico, Valencia, Sevilla, Betis, Deportivo?

Atletico maybe.
That way they could keep Falcao and get better players.

If I were a millionaire and I wanted to "invest" in a footall club, not trhow money into it with no expectations whatsoever of ever getting an investment return, I would only consider Valencia and Atletico de Madrid.
The only two clubs in Spain with enough growing potential to someday be profitable.

Re: Carlos Slim ready to invest big in a Spanish club
Given that 80% of clubs are unprofitable, most millionaires don't look at clubs as a form of investment but for personal fun. FFP might change this, if anyone actually believes in FFP.free_cat wrote:If I were a millionaire and I wanted to "invest" in a footall club, not trhow money into it with no expectations whatsoever of ever getting an investment return, I would only consider Valencia and Atletico de Madrid.

Why would he want to buy a club that plays second fiddle to the biggest club in the City ? Until unless he has something personal against Real Madrid or something.Just saying.
If this is true ,i hope its Valencia tbh.Their pending stadium project would probably be completed in the process apart from improving the squad ofcourse.

Cause Madrid is a 6 milion city and Spain a 30 milion country. There's a big market for a second club from the capital and the spanish sentiment to grow. In London alone there are 3 big clubs.
Valencia, on the other hand, can only grow in a market made of a city of barely 1 milion and a region of 4 milion, it's difficult they can steal Real Madrid fans around Spain.

Re: Carlos Slim ready to invest big in a Spanish club
They were going to say who it was yesterday on Jorge Ramos y su Banda, but I fell asleep
They said it was a title contender tho
Obviously it's not RM or Barca, so I don't what they are on about....

Re: Carlos Slim ready to invest big in a Spanish club
But Valencia is still a well supported in the country,3rd most supported if i am correct ?..But wouldnt Slim as a businessman ,would want to expand the global fanbase of his club rather than 'gaining' fans from within the country ?
Not to mention their stadium is 75% completed if i am correct again ?Wouldnt it be a great start to his ownership of the club i mean new stadium ,better players ,more ticket sales etc etc

In my opinion it's clearly Malaga if any of the rumors are to be believed they have been looking for a buyer for some time.

Re: Carlos Slim ready to invest big in a Spanish club
Quite frankly considering half of my family is from Valencia i can see why they would interest potential suitors.
Not just the football club but the potential in the City itself is enormous if someone wanted to go down that route.
I see similar potential for growth there which the PSG owners see in Paris.
Personally i would like to see Betis or Depor as the romantic in me would like to see them challenge again but i can see why Atleti and Valencia would interest people and not just the football club.
Also as for Real Madrid being the bigger club and not wanting to be 2nd fiddle....
Ever heard of Man City? just imagine the buzz it would make if Atleti became better than Real on a pure footballing basis or at least competitive with them on a consistent basis.
The City would go nuts tbh.

If we go by other Billionaires buys, we have to think that the city itself plays an important role. Apparently Abramovich bought Chelsea because he had a house in London.

Considering that, Malaga is the most likely cause it's full of billionaires in Marbella.
Valencia second (has a marina for yachts).
Atletico third (Madrid is the capital).

Buying a club under the influence of financial fair play?
That sounds like a stupid risk to me, but then again as the world's richest man, he has the luxury to indulge in that risk.
