not surprising seeing as most teams invest in youth and potential these days, especially big teams, need to have the stars of tomorrow before tomorrow comes.

I could be off, but I think this is based on who's played, not who's in the registered squad, meaning the investment in youth isn't necessarily the reasoning (as many of those up and comers are more for the reserve squad and cups at the moment). It just happens to be a "transition" period for several teams.

yeah stevieg is right. The list is based on whoever has played for the clubs in the PL, not necessarily the whole squad.
